Some thoughts and discussions from me.

You know those weekends where all of the sudden it’s Sunday evening, and you realize you didn’t manage to do a single thing on your to-do list?

Yeah, I had that kind of weekend. But I did have a lot of fun Winking smile In fact, I had so much fun I barely took any pictures. Lately I think it’s better to just live life when amongst friends, living it up, rather than stopping to take a picture. Especially after I watched this video. Ugh.

Friday evening, Shane and I met up with our buds, Katie and David for a little happy hour. Us four, along with Niko, walked down the street to our favorite brewery in town, the Tasty Weasel. I love starting out the weekend with a happy hour, don’t you?

We sipped on beers, told jokes, and ate peanuts while Niko hung out on the floor eating every peanut crumb she could find. The brewery closes at 8 – yep, 8:00! What kind of brewery closes at 8:00, right? Apparently some neighbor made a big stink about the noise, and made sure they had to change their closing time from 10:00 to 8:00.

Anyway, we decided to walk back to the neighborhood to a dog-friendly restaurant, where we had a late dinner, and then eventually headed on home and called it a night Smile

Saturday I had a work meeting, and then Shane and I proceeded to spend our life-savings at REI. We thought we had gotten most of what we needed for camping, but we ended up getting another sleeping bag, a pack, a stove, eating stuff, and lots of other camping accessories. We’re going camping this weekend and I am seriously so excited!! We also decided we’re going to take a road trip and go camping for our 5 year anniversary at the end of September Open-mouthed smile We’re planning on taking a bigger trip later on, but still wanted to celebrate it – bonus that it falls on a Friday, so we can make a weekend out of it!

As soon as we got home from REI, we got ready and joined a big group of friends for dinner in Boulder. This night ended up being so much fun! I rarely go out in Boulder at night, and it was great eating at Brasserie Ten Ten, and then strolling down Pearl Street, watching the shows.

We didn’t want the night to end, so we ended up at the Cheesecake Factory for champagne and cheesecake – perfect!

I ordered original, which was really good, but everyone ended up ordering their own, so we passed them all around and had a bit of them all! Then I gave the rest of mine to a homeless person…

Both Friday night and Saturday night were pretty spur of the moment plans, which, in my opinion, always end up being THE most fun. I get it that you have to plan some things in advance, but I love impromptu good times Open-mouthed smile

Although we got home pretty late, we were up pretty early to meet up with Lauren and Greg to hike on Sunday (who also joined us on Saturday night!) Shane and I want to get the most we can out of RMNP hiking before summer’s over, so we made the 45-minute drive up to Lily Lake to hike up Lily Mountain. (Get ready for beautiful mountain picture overload!!)

There’s Lily Lake at the bottom…and then you hike up, up, up!

The summit had incredible 360 views of Longs Peak, Meeker Peak, and Estes Park. Oh, how I love Rocky Mountain National Park (though technically, this hike was just outside of it!) We ended up staying at the summit for a good 20 minutes, I think, just taking in the views and taking pictures.

We all brought lunch, and ate PBJ’s, and Shane and I shared a Mama’s Little Yella Pils at the top.

When we got back home, it hit me how little I actually got done this weekend, and tried to make a bit of a dent in my to-do list. I summoned my energy and at least got the floors and vacuuming done! So, a lot of fun was had, but the to-do list got neglected.

There’s always tomorrow… Winking smile

Do you have a hard time getting productive stuff done during the weekend?

Do you ever feel the need to put the phone down during the weekend??
