Some thoughts and discussions from me.

The week between Christmas as New Years, to me, signifies introspection. The holiday madness has ended, and 2017 is quickly approaching.

What's Your Word

Whether for you, 2016 was a year for celebrating, or a year of mourning, a new year is coming to wipe the proverbial (annual) slate clean.

As for me? This week you will find me mostly in my home, resting, reading, reviewing- and thinking and planning. Come January 2nd, things will be in full fledged work-day-packed mode, and I want to be able to jump into it with energy and vigor.

In order to do anything vigorously, I need to have some clarity.  And in order to signify this clarity, I like to choose One Word as a catalyst for the entire year ahead.

2017 Word

You might remember that my word last year was “Growth.” I was successful in growing in many ways …and not so much in others. But it did provide clarity and direction for where I wanted to put my focus. While I did achieve growth, it left me a little too reactive for my own liking at times.

Because with more anything, comes more responsibility. ‘Mo growth, mo’ problems.

So this year, as I was trying to think of just one word – to signify and encompass all of my goals for the year, a few came to mind:

  • expand (give myself more *room* to grow)
  • clarity (which I’ve already started taking up more of this word, if you can’t tell from the amount of times I’ve used it already in this post, haha)
  • aware
  • proactive
  • subjective
My 2017 Word

The only one I kept coming back to; the one that both excited and grounded me was Aware.

Aware

Aware of my blessings. Aware of my loved ones. Aware of myself. Aware of when I’m attaching too many assumptions. Aware of when someone needs to me to listen instead of talk. Aware of my finances and business goals. Aware of how I’m treating myself.

TL;DR: my 2017 word is Aware!
