Some thoughts and discussions from me.

I didn’t feel at all like grocery shopping this past weekend.

Correction – I didn’t have time to even think about grocery shopping! Then Tuesday came around, and I had a busy day of teaching and training. When it came time for dinner Tuesday night, I noticed the fridge and cabinets were a little bare:

Then Wednesday, after a failed attempt at getting a CO license at the DMV, I finally went grocery shopping instead.  Re-stock time. Today I thought I’d show you what I got in my grocery haul. I also got a Vitacost package this week. This is actually a pretty typical week of groceries for me.

Vitacost haul:

My monthly Vitacost hauls have turned into bi-monthly. Ah well. They always offer awesome discounts that entice me. Then before I know it I’m building my shopping cart and hitting submit (save $10 on your next order!) In this haul:

quinoa pasta, crackers, 4 cans of coconut milk (which I pour into mason jars, and use for anything from curries and stews to cereal milk – seriously, it’s in the bare fridge picture!) Udi’s granola, Love Crunch granola, canned pumpkin, jojoba oil, Once Again crunchy almond butter, and a free packet of whey powder.

Whole Foods Haul:

I was very proud of myself to sticking mostly to the list at WF yesterday!

On the list: lettuce, lemons, sweet potatoes, meat (chicken, ground buffalo,) turkey, brussels sprouts, frozen veggies, eggs, ice cream for Shane

Impulse buys: sparkling water, Hail Merry macaroons – the chocolate flavor are OUT of this world, ice cream for moi – NadaMoo’s, a coconut milk ice cream I discovered last week. It’s the best coconut ice cream I’ve ever tried.

Sprouts Haul:

And then I went to Sprouts, and my good intentions of sticking to the list flew right out the automatic opening doors. The sales got the best of me. Ready for this?

On the list: chicken, cat food, bacon, bread, and avocados

Impulse buys: Hansen’s Diet soda for Shane (they were on sale for $1.99/6pack!) KIND bars, Organic Valley vanilla milk (on sale for $1.99 for a 4 pack!) chicken nuggets (on sale,) Applegate sausage (on sale,) frozen basmati rice (frozen AND discontinued, which makes my food heart very very sad,) Alden’s organic ice cream (on sale for $4.99!!) pumpkin seeds, a second pack of bacon, chicken sausage, and apple sausage (yup, on sale!) bananas, turkey and ham.

Ha. Oops. But there were some seriously awesome sales. Like Shane’s Diet Hansen’s soda for $1.99 a 6-pack. And avocados for $77. And a savings of $1.20 on applegate farms bacon and chicken nuggets! And I picked up like 3 packages of the frozen jasmine rice.

Although, now I’m not so excited to dive right into that rice. I got this month’s IDEA Fitness Journal in the mail this week, and just read about how rice from Thailand could have lead levels higher than those considered safe by the USDA!

Hopefully, since this rice is organic, its lead levels are fairly low!

So happy it’s Friday today Open-mouthed smile I’ve got a client this morning, and then I’ll be working on some online programs. I’m hoping to get some relaxing in this weekend!

How much do you stick to the list while grocery shopping?
