My Story

Question: What’s one thing you’d change about your body?
My job is to help women change their bodies, BUT more importantly, change the way they think about their bodies.

Hi! I’m Paige, the author and trainer behind the blog, Your Trainer Paige. I live in Boulder County, Colorado, where I’m an online and in-person personal trainer, health coach, blogger, fitness instructor and lover of the outdoors. Welcome!

I started writing Your Trainer Paige in July of 2012 (formerly, it was Running Around Normal) to share workouts, fitness and health news & tips, recipes, and to share my message to women. My message is that training, nutrition, and your healthy lifestyle should be ADDING to and enhancing your life. It shouldn’t be making you miserable, and it shouldn’t constantly feel like a chore.

I also manage my online personal training business here. You can find more information on my online personal training, training programs, and nutrition coaching on my “Services” page. Or if you’re in Boulder County, and are looking for a trainer or fitness instructor, just contact me!

And if you’re not interested in that, but want to keep this conversation going, as well as get my free guide to creating your own killer strength workout, make sure to sign up for that.

Fitness, health, and living a healthy lifestyle are strong passions of mine. I love helping women become fit, achieve their goals, and take steps in living a healthier life. I look forward to doing my job almost every single day. I love building strong relationships with others, built upon a foundation of health and wellness, and I thrive on seeing my clients and people around me reach their goals and live a healthy life.

As much as I’m in love with it, I do have a life outside of fitness. In December of 2012, my husband and our cat and dog picked up and moved across the country, from Illinois to Colorado. Here in Colorado, I enjoy hiking, pushing my limits, immersing myself in the Colorado culture, relaxing with friends, and visiting new breweries. I also enjoy FaceTiming with all of my loved ones I left behind in Illinois.

Through blogging, I’ve been able to utilize my passion for writing – and my degree. Blogging has proven to be an avenue for many great opportunities to further my career in writing, as well connect with some amazing brands and companies:

Thank you for stopping by my piece of the internet, and welcome. If you wish to read more, you can subscribe to my blog posts via RSS feed, or by email, getting my daily posts delivered right into your inbox! I’d love to hear from you, too! You can email me any time at

Just stumbled across your blog, and was at first a little confused about the title. But look at that, your town is named Normal – too cute!

  10. Julie @ Pickley Pear says:

Hi Paige – I just came upon your blog and LOVE IT! Looking forward to reading.

  11. Ooh I can’t wait to read more!

  12. Hey Paige! Just found your blog, love it so far! Such a creative title! Can’t wait to read more.

  13. Hi Paige, I was born in Central Illinois and your blog title got my attention when I was reading (I had a feeling you lived in Normal!)

Good luck with your writing endeavors. I look forward to reading more of your site.

  14. Just found your blog and I love it!! Can’t wait to read more!! :)

  15. Love the blog! I hope you’re having fun discovering Normal- I drive through central Illinois often and it reminds me of my hometown- sometimes you have to make your own fun… :)

  16. Normal is the funniest name for a town. Ha!!! Clever name for a blog too.

I’m married to the love of my life (for almost 11 years!!) and we have a dog name Nico too!!! I love that name. I always thought it was a really cool name when I listened to the Velvet Underground and now I have a very awkward pug who would not be cool if she were a person. We love her anyway!

    Nice to meet you. :-)

  17. Hi! I saw your comment on HTP, and I wondered if Normal meant Normal, IL. I also went to ISU, and I was a Comm Studies major. We actually graduated together. Kinda crazy.

  18. Hey, I know where Normal is, I go to U of I :)

Great fitness story btw. Congrats on getting more active and running races!

  19. I don’t think I realized that you lived in Normal! I’m from IL but I have lived in OH for 5 years.

  20. andigetsfit says:

hey, I found you via blog hopping, but I actually *kinda* know where Normal is (I live in Michigan). love your blog so far, can’t wait to read more!

  21. I just found you through your Faith, Fitness and Fun guest blog and am so inspired by you! I am DYING to parlay my love of fitness into a career and don’t even know where to begin. Help, please!! :-)

  22. Andrea @ Sweet N Green says:

Hi Paige, I just came across your blog and wanted to say that I love it! Looking forward to reading more :)

  23. Hi Paige – I just stumbled onto your page. I was reading and thinking to myself…”is she talkinga bout normal, il? I just graduated from ISU last year! I “ran around normal” a lot too!

  24. Hey Paige,
I’ve really enjoyed reading your page. I’m a runner too from South East Georgia. Had a stress fracture after my first half marathon. But now I’m back at it. I’m kinda new to the whole blog thing but I’d love to follow you on here (and have you follow me) — still trying to figure that part out though. :)

  25. Hi, nice to meet you !

  26. no offense, but never having starbucks?!?!?!

    so NOT normal! treat yourself!!

  27. The blog makeover looks great, Paige!!

  28. Kristina @ Life as Kristina says:

Just found your blog and so glad I did-Love it!

  29. I just came across your blog, I love it :) I’m thinking about journalism as a major, I just have such a passion for writing – and I’d love to travel with it as a career! I’ll definitly keep on reading!

    • I loooved studying journalism and the internships! It’s such a fun major – definitely needs to be passion there, though :)

  30. Jill@mysocalledhealthlife says:

Illinois represent! I’m living in San Antonio now but I’m from southern Illinois. Glad I found your blog!

  31. I love your blog! Such a great name. :)

I am also an ACE certified trainer! I just got certified this fall. I really haven’t done much with it yet…I’m still trying to decide what would be my best niche.

    Can’t wait to read more!

  32. I love that your title of your blog! Especially since I live there because I attend Illinois State University :)

  33. Hey! Love the blog! I think it’s so cool that we share the same name. 😀 I’ve never “met” another Paige before! 😀

  34. Crazy – my dad grew up in Normal, and it’s still where all his family lives. People love having fun with the “I’m from Normal” line… It’s a great place to live, though!

  35. I just stumbled across your blog and I love it :) I grew up in Mahomet, so when I saw you lived in “a town called Normal”, I had to keep reading to see if it was good ole central IL Normal!

  36. oh my god, do you live in normal, il?! my cousin’s family lives there! love the blog by the way, the recipes look GREEAAT!

  37. Great blog, Paige! I’m looking forward to exploring it more. :)

And thanks for visiting my blog!! Happy Sunday!

  38. I’ve been reading healthy living blogs for a few years now. I found your blog before I knew what transfer college I would be attending this fall and before I started my blog. It Just Dawned On Me that you live where I’ll be living!! In Normal… (I live outside Peo… now.) I think it is so exciting to know a blogger that lives in the same city as me, because I’ve never even encountered another blogger that lives in our state! I envy those bloggers that meet up for coffee because they live close. Normal seems wonderful. I’m super psyched about living in town and having sidewalks- let alone a bike trail! We’ll [me and Weston] be living on Vernon in 2.5 weeks…but who’s counting?

  39. First, thanks for leaving a comment on my post!! Please continue to do so, it makes me feel special :)
Second, love that I’ve found a new fitness blog. Love getting new workouts and inspirations! I’m a trainer too, but it’s nice to see what others are doing!!
    Have a great Sunday!

I am freshman at ISU and I just found your blog from Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life. So cool that you went to ISU too!

  41. Hi Paige,

I just found your blog through PBFingers and I am enjoying it already! I also went to ISU and worked for that BIC in Bloomington for a summer. Now I live in South Carolina, but work for the big Construction company just down the road in Peoria! I had so much fun living in Normal so it is fun to see your pictures and read about some of the same restaurants, etc. Looking forward to reading more!!

    • Haha cool! How long ago did you live here? My dad is retired from that construction/tractor company 😉

      • Actually calling it a tractor company is probably MUCH more appropriate! One would think I would call it that too since I have worked here for 6 years :) I haven’t lived in Central Illinois since 2006, but my hubby is from Morton so we get back at least 3 times a year!

  42. So fun to meet you at HLS! Looking foward to keeping up with you!

  43. I am a dietitian but I just started studying to become an ACE personal trainer! It’s going to take me awhile bc it’s self-study and I work 40 hrs/wk (plus it’s summer!). But I can’t wait to get it!

  44. Hi! I just stumbled across your blog…I really love its name :-)

  45. love love the name of your blog and how it has two meanings! really enjoying reading your blog. its amazing and I will be around more often :)

  46. Okay… I have been to Normal!!! I live in California, near Monterey but my Mom’s whole family lives around Flanagan Illinois (12 miles away from Pontiac!). My aunt lives in Towanda and my cousins live in Bloomington. What a small world!!!

  47. I absolutely love your page! I am addicted to it. It is so nice to read every morning. Keep up the good work!
Any advice on what to do when you’ve reached a weight loss plateu?

  48. Hi Paige! Not sure how I never got around to reading this page, but it was super fun to find out more about your background. I can relate to your focus in writing as an undergrad, and the desire to continue it–and somehow link it with the health aspect–post college. I majored in English and Anthropology, but am now in a master’s program in health where I barely ever get to write. My blog has been such a wonderful outlet for me to keep on expressing myself, and connect my different interests. Yay for being interdisciplinary! :-)

  49. Hi, I just came across your website and I love it! I wish I followed my passion and because a PT earlier in life, but no regrets!
I did want to ask about how your got your certification. I would LOVE to take a class to get certified (in 2 months you did it, nice!) although I am not sure if there are any local schools that provide that in Boston?
Can you provide more info on this?
I am eager to get my certification, although, not quite sure where to start!
    Thank you!!
    Tara G.

  50. Hi, I love your blog and wonder if I could ask you some questions about food and fitness? Send me an email if so…thanks!

  51. Hi Paige, I’m Katie. Nice to meet you. You seem nice and I like your blog a lot. I’m glad I’m here. I’m glad I blog hop.

I love how open and honest you are here… it’s true, we all have our own routines and tend to all view “normal” in different ways. I really admire that you are confident enough to say that you’re not perfect, that you splurge, eat too much, then wake up to a new day… very inspiring. I’m really looking forward to reading more.

Feel free to come and visit me at Oh Shine On. I like people.

  52. So glad I’ve found your blog! Your story resonates a lot with me because we have a very similar background. I went to Ohio State where I was a journalism major, wrote for the school newspaper, and interned in the student wellness center. I wasn’t feeling newspaper writing so much but love creative writing! I hope to do freelance writing as well someday, but right now I work in insurance too! Ha

  53. Hey…Just found your blog, and I can’t wait to keep reading! I love your attitude. If you have a minute, check mine out! Thanks! :)

  54. You said you quit your job and stuff..can you share more? Because it seems that you work a desk job + a personal training job right? I’d love to know how you transitioned this, what your background was…what your desk job is now…i’m in career crisis and feeling very lost and down. (you can email if better).

  55. Nice to “meet” you. We live about 2 hours from Normal so I fully understand what running around “Normal” must be like! My husband went to IL State, but we are a lot older than you are so I doubt you ever crossed paths!

  56. Hi Paige!do you still married??

  57. is there a practical part of the GFI exam?
