Fun fact: did you know hearing your favorite song can instantly increase the amount of dopamine in our systems? We’ve all instantly perked up when a good beat comes on the radio – I know I do every time!

One study says even the anticipation of a pleasing song can increase dopamine.

Now, let’s take this to the weight room.

The same thing happens in the gym; I can be going about my business, going through my workout, when one of my favorite lifting songs comes on, and I’m suddenly crushing my workout.

In fact, my friend Megan and I joke that we hip thrust approximately 75% better when a certain rap song starts pulsing through the earbuds.

This makes sense, since stimulating music has been shown to increase cardiovascular measures.

I don’t know about you, but I’m all about boosting my dopamine in the gym to support my workout. So, I’ve created a quick ‘summer 2016 favorites’ list of my own, and wanted to share it with you.
