Some thoughts and discussions from me.

Good morning, my friends! Have a good weekend?

Mine was low key, but filled with lots of relaxing, hiking, and a little work on the side. That’s always a recipe for happiness, if ya ask me!

And of course – some self/business development whilst driving and walking in the form of podcasts.

One of my most favorite leisure activities throughout the week is to go for walks while listening to podcasts. While I’m not a big fan of multi-tasking with my brain (it just gets too clogged up) I do enjoy putting my walks, drives, and gym time to double use by listening to enriching (or entertaining) episodes. I’m actually not even sure how people are able to listen to podcasts (or movies, shows, etc.) while working on something. #doesnotcompute.

I probably listen to 2-3 episodes a day, and each one is a different genre: Fitness, Personal Development, and Business/marketing. I love starting my day with an inspirational personal development podcast, lifting while I listen to people talk about lifting, hear about great business ideas whilst driving, and end my day with an evening walk while being either inspired or entertained.

TOP 7 PODCASTS (1)

Since we’ve got 7 to get through, let’s get down to it. Today I want to share with you my top 7 podcasts to do my best in fitness, business, and life.

Fitness

1. The Fitcast

I’ve mentioned this one on the blog before, but I LOVE Kevin Larabee’s The Fitcast podcast. He interviews all the greatest names in the industry and provides a wealth of knowledge for all things fitness, kinesiology, and fitness psychology. It’s been on for at least 5 years now, and is still going strong, which says something in itself. And in my opinion, some its earliest episodes are its best!

Who’s it for? I’d say it’s geared toward those who work in the fitness industry, but I think anyone who is serious about lifting will find value here.

2. Lift Like a Girl

Ahh, I’m so glad I discovered Nia Shank’s podcast! She has great guest interviews with the likes of Jill Coleman, Jen Sinkler, and my former coach, Jen Comas come on and talk all things fitness, nutrition, and mindset. My very favorite thing about this podcast is that Nia is ALL about promoting what feels good and works for YOU. My second favorite thing is there’s no fear mongering going on like grains will kill you or dairy is bad. She also does a great job of interviewing those who are all about REAL evidence-based claims. Science, yo.

Who’s it for? Fitness minded individuals who are all about eating and training in a way that makes you happy, healthy, and strong. I’d also go ahead and say if you think you maybe just might be a little bit elitist in your fitness or nutrition ways, this is for you.

Unfortunately, these are the only two fitness podcasts I’ve been able to find that are legit, but if you’ve found any other ones, please please list them in the comments!

Personal Development

3. This is Your Life

Michael Hyatt is a writer and motivational speaker, and it’s easy to see why when listening to his podcast. I don’t listen to all of them, because some are admittedly a little over done (i.e. use SMART goals!) BUT most of the ones I have chosen to listen to, I walk away (literally, ha) inspired, and wanting to be a better person.

I typically listen to This is Your Life sometimes during my early morning walk just to start my day off on a positive note.

Who’s it for? Anyone looking to have better leadership skills, better systems, and a balanced perspective on life.

4. Lewis Howe’s School of Greatness

Lewis Howes is quite the legend himself, but he conducts interviews with such inspirational individuals. It’s given me several ideas to play with in my own life, and I just love hearing a good success story. Even if it doesn’t align with my values or path, it’s still inspirational, and a great story. I love listening to School of Greatness anytime I feel like hearing someone else’s inspiring story.

Who’s it for? Anyone who likes hearing success stories of influential, inspirational thought leaders or businesspersons.

Business/Marketing

5. Online Marketing Made Easy

So, Amy Porterfield does an amazing job with this podcast, and I’ve gotten dozens of invaluable nuggets about facebook and email marketing from her. I do have to admit, her style is a little different from mine, and sometimes all of the information can make me feel overwhelmed, but it’s totally worth it to sift through it. She also provides some amazing one-sheet references with solid step-by-step directions. Nuggets!

Who’s it for? Anyone interested in online marketing, specifically through facebook, email list building, and writing.

6. Build Your Tribe

Chalene Johnson’s podcast on creating community and internet/social media marketing is the BEST! Chalene has such an infectious, real, down to earth personality and way of explaining things. I’ve found myself trying out her tips that I’d normally never do, from which I’ve found a major benefit. In some of the show’s earlier podcasts I find myself thinking, “I can’t believe she’s giving this information out for free!” Tip: listen to them starting from the beginning. Some of her first podcasts are some of the best!

Who’s it for? Anyone interested in building their business, getting the most current, up-to-date information on social media trends, and tips to build your virtual community.

Chalene also has a second podcast, the Chalene Show that I also listen to now and then. I’d categorize this one under Personal Development.

7. Being Boss

I just recently discovered this podcast on a roadtrip out to the mountains, and I got through nearly half of all of the episodes in that one trip. Emily and Kathleen are adorable to listen to, and while I haven’t gotten as many applicable knowledge BOMBS like I have from Chalene or Amy, I find myself coming back for more. The thing I like most about Being Boss is how relatable the hosts are from an entrepreneurial standard.

Who’s it for? Any entrepreneur who goes through the daily struggles of being self-employed!
