Some thoughts and discussions from me.

Trainer Paige's

Oh, how I love alliteration.

I have been a walking machine this week! It’s warmed up on this side of the country, so I’ve been using the warm temps and sunny weather to get out and walk. Part of it’s motivated by the Fitbit Blogger Challenge and my Fitbit Charge, but a lot of it’s because of my power walking podcast playlist!

(PS – you still have this week and next to enter to win your own Fitbit Change from Men’s Fitness and Shape here!) This week’s challenge was to use a different workout to up your step count. You might know that I’m on a volleyball league, and while I’m on it for the sport and for fun, it’s still a major workout – especially during the front row rotation!

You might beable to see it in this pic, but I strap my Fitbit on my shoelace during the games – and get a LOT of steps during a game (as does the teammate to my left!) Unfortunately, we lost in this past week’s tournament, but as my teammate said, we walked away winners because we had fun! awwww.

OK, so on to the podcasts. I typically walk outside (or on the treadmill if it’s freezing outside) for :45-:75 minutes a day. It clears my mind, gets my blood flow up a little….and I get to listen to some of my favorite podcasts. Seriously ya’ll. Podcasts make walking (and car rides) so much more fun. Yes, it’s great to have a peaceful, quiet walk every now and then for mindfulness and mediation, but a little entertainment or infotainment doesn’t hurt either 😉

My Power Walking Podcasts:

1. The Fit Cast.

1

I’ve been listening to this podcast hosted by Kevin Larabee for years, and it’s all SUCH great information. There’s no fluff like how to get 8 minute abs or tone the tummy. It’s hosted by fit pro’s I respect and look up to, and their interviews are awesome. If you’re in the fitness industry, or have a very strong interest in learning more about fitness and nutrition, I’d recommend it.

2. Ben Greenfield Fitness.

1

Yep, another fitness podcast. There are so many crap fitness podcasts out there, but this is another good one (that actually also keeps my interest.) It’s a great question:answer-style podcast that covers the multi-facets of fitness and health.

3. The Chalene Show.

1

I’ve been a fan of Chalene’s since college (yeah, Turbo Jam!) but I also find her to be incredibly inspiring and very business savvy. On the Chalene Show, she talks about and interviews people on the realm of fitness and nutrition, but also covers entrepreneurism.

4. Serial.

1

OMG. Have you guys listened to this yet?! If not, WHY not? It’s the most addictive podcast I’ve listened to thus far. My friend Phillip recently told me about it, and ever since, I can’t stop listening to it! It’s a documentary-style podcast about the murder of Hay Lee and conviction of Anand, her ex-boyfriend. But is he really guilty? This podcasts tries to answer that question.

The other day, I’d planned on jumping off the treadmill after 10 minutes, but ended up walking for 45:00 after my workout was done so I could finish an episode.

5. This is Your Life.

1

I’m a big fan of Michael Hyatt’s, and enjoy listening to this podcast when I need a good kick in the pants of passion in the leadership realm of business. It’s great for entrepreneurs, or just if you want to work and live with a better focus and passion.

And there you have it – how I keep myself entertained while walking for hours.

Your turn! I want to you know YOUR favorite podcast so I can download it 🙂 Share in the comments what some of your fave podcasts are!
