Some thoughts and discussions from me.

Hey guys!

How’s it going? Today feels an awful lot like Friday to me. It’s probably a good thing it’s not, though – I’m leaving for Illinois tomorrow (YAY! – first time back home!) and I still haven’t started packing. No surprise there Winking smile

And yesterday I had the joy of meeting up with Lauren at Mount Sanitas for a mid-morning hike!

Lauren’s here in Colorado house hunting for when she moves to CO in a few weeks (YAY!) and in between searching she’s able to squeeze in some fun.  It was gorgeous hiking weather – we were both pretty sweaty by the time we turned around and headed back down. Although it was cloudy when we started, the clouds parted and the sun was out in full force toward the middle of the hike.

The hike took us up quite a bit of elevation, and was definitely a booty burner, workout-wise. But, for those of you without a mountain to get the glutes fired up, I’ve got a booty burner workout for YOU.

I ran one of my classes through this workout last week and they all really enjoyed it.

3 second squats – count 3 seconds down and 3 seconds up

1 second squats – quick squats!

squat hold – hold at the bottom of the squat

split squat –( except bring the back foot to the ground. It annoys me so much that even fitness websites don’t seem to know the difference between a split squat and a lunge!)

skater jumps

squat jacks

If you have any other questions – just ask! Open-mouthed smile

….Taking a left turn from the subject of fitness to the subject of vegetables. Come along! Smile

Every morning I check several websites – usually in the same order every day – training schedule, bank, blogs, email – and fitness/health research studies from a journal I subscribe to. Yesterday I was reading one of those studies that piqued my interest and wanted to share it really quick. According to the study from Public Health Nutrition, if you make a dinner that serves up veggies, you’ll be thought of as loving!

More specifically, it said that when food preparers served vegetables at dinner, they were rated higher on qualities like “loving,” “thoughtful,” “capable,” and “attentative.” Conversely, the chefs who did not serve up veggies were rated higher on qualities such as “neglectful,” “selfish,” and “boring!”

Ironically, I did not serve any veggies with dinner last night (unless you count canned tomatoes – we had chili.) Wondering what Shane would say, after dinner I asked him, “How did you like the chili?” (he liked it!) and then “so…how would you describe me after eating it??” His response? (after guessing “sexy?”) was good cook? LOL. I’ll take it Winking smile

Happy Thursday, my friends!

What veggie did you eat with dinner last night? Or were you a slacker (or neglectful/selfish/boring) like me and skip it?
