Hello there, my friends!
If you were celebrating yesterday, I hope you had a very merry Christmas ![]()
I know Shane and I did back here in Illinois.
Yep, we’re back in the 20 degree, snow covered land of Lincoln. Florida was SO much fun (and so much warmer) but we’ve got a LOT to do this week. I stinking move to Colorado the day after tomorrow!!! Wow.
I’m also training my last Illinois client this morning. It’s hard to believe – even as I sit here and type it. I’ve said it before, but I’ll sure miss my clients! However, I’m looking forward to meeting and training lots of new client in the new year. ![]()
Being December 26th, I’m sure there a lot of folks are thinking about getting in shape after the holidays, deciding which gym they might join (or go back to,) or perhaps what healthy choices they’re going to start implementing into their lives.
I’ve said it time and time again – I am NOT a New Year’s resolution type of gal (in fact, I suck at them.) That I’m more of a I-have-an-idea-and-I’m-going-to-work-on-it-now sort of person. I’d like to think it’s because I’m determined, but it’s likely just those pesky impulsive genes that were passed down to me from my pop ![]()
With that, here are my…
December 26th Resolutions
(aka, my “right now” goals)
1. Do more yoga/restorative/body-mind-soul type of exercises.
As I’ve been writing about it on here, I’ve been going to yoga class at least twice a week (and even went to beach yoga in FL!) doing morning meditation, and making sure I get in mobility work. I used to look at this type of activity as boring and time-wasting, but it’s anything but. My next goal is to actually fall asleep (or at least fall into a deep relaxed state) during savasana. I suck at it!
2. Smile more often while driving to disassociate the car with stress.
A few weeks ago I noticed my blood pressure instantly climbs when I start driving – especially as I’m approaching stop lights. Horrible! I also constantly check the clock to make sure I’m not running late, which is stupid, because once I’m driving somewhere, I’m not going to somehow magically get there faster by stressing out about the time. I even went so far as to hide the clock, which surprisingly, is a really great trick!
3. Care less!
OK, let me explain this one. I don’t mean care less as in love my family and friends less, or be less passionate. I just mean care in general less. Wait, that sounds bad, too. How about stress less? Worry less? Go with the flow more? You know what I mean…right? ![]()
4. Continue to manage my PCOS by managing my blood sugar levels.
I hate (hate, hate, HATE) using the term paleo, but that’s basically how I’m eating as best as I can. However, in Florida I definitely had some Key Lime pie, lots of alcohol, tortilla chips, and other yummy deliciousnesses. I haven’t gone on a straight on sugar binge though. I know my body likes it this way. In fact, yesterday I had some glug on an empty stomach, which is super sweet, and a couple hours later, I was weak and shakey. No bueno.
5. Live the first four goals while living it UP in Colorado.
Take daily walks. Play. Relax. Go easy on myself. Laugh. Have FUN. I can’t wait to start this new life ![]()
Until then, my proverbial plate is full with packing, my last client here, pet appointments, training some online clients. Better get to it!
Tomorrow, be on the lookout for a VERY exciting giveaway – and a training update.
What are your December 26th resolutions?
Are you making any New Year’s resoutios?

Love these right now resolutions! Such a great idea. So exciting you’re moving so soon but I imagine stressful too! Relax and enjoy the process because before you know it you’ll be there moved in and settled!

I’m down with numbers 1 and 3, for sure. Would love to honor number 5 as well, but I’m stuck in Los Angeles! Portland, Oregon is my dream destination.
I have goals of running 600 miles cumulatively and doing 10 races this year, mostly obstacle courses but at least one half marathon.

I haven’t put much thought into making goals, but I read your yoga one and I REALLY want to start doing that once a week!
I know you will do great with your goals
love you girl

I’m not doing the New Years Resolution thing either…I usually forget about them a few month later! I like to choose goals to focus on each month.

I love all of your resolutions- and could probably adopt them for myself! And I HATE the term Paleo too- it actually makes me CRINGE. I just believe in eating whatever makes you feel good and not putting a label on it- whether it’s gluten, grains, meat or tofu!
My resolution (I VERY MUCH believe in them!!) is to READ MORE. I got about 10 books for Christmas, and need to ditch the TV for BOOKS much more often!

I like the goals you listed! I’m not much of a goal setter either, but I’m definitely getting into the more low key exercise thing right now…more pilates, maybe yoga (if I can actually find a type I like), and walks. Ah, good luck on the move!! SO soon!

Great post! I especially need to add #2 to my list! I also need to really get my workout focus back. I have been lazy these past 2 months after completing my Tough Mudder, so I really need to get back in the game! Good luck with the move!!

Congrats in your great move to Colorado! I agree on the caring less one. I don’t mean it in a meanest but in the not putting too much energy in things that dont matter or people that don’t care kind of Wat!

I absolutely love these December 26th resolutions. Great, simple things to work on, starting now. I’ve never been a resolution type of girl either, but this year I have a few simple things in mind that I plan to work on!

Great resolutions! I’m not a big NYE resolution person either, but this year I’m going to try to set up a writing schedule and do more creative writing. I’m excited about it!
