Friday Fodder (Last Night, In Yoga Class…)

1. I’m pretty sure I’m in what people call “shock” right now. At least I hope that’s what it is, because if it’s not, then it’s most definitely what they call “laziness.” Yesterday, I walked around the house, looked at what all needs to be packed, then I sideyeed the scuff marks that need to be cleaned off the walls. Then, I sat down to everything I need to take care of in the next three weeks. Phone calls, appointments, insurance mumbo jumbo, responding to emails, and the like. Naturally, I avoided everything and just started reading my favorite blogs. (Hiiii, Amy – update your blog so I can procrastinate s’more Winking smile !)

It’s probably just the sense of overwhelm, but I feel like I have SO much to do that the only possible option is to not to do anything at all.

imageAnyone else have serious issues, like me know what I’m talking about?

2. Yesterday I decided that what I was wearing was my favorite outfit this week:

Is that sad? I love my lululemon tops and hoodies as much as the next girl, but nothing beats a good alma matter hoodie. Am I right or am I right?

3. Speaking of lululemon, this arrived on my doorstep this week:

A Christmas gift from my marvelous mama, the Groove slim pants (in tall, for this tally.) I’m not sure how they differ from the regular Groove pants in tall, but I sure do love ’em!

4. Last night I took a yoga class – one of the last ones I’ll take at my current studio (tear!) All day long I looked forward to this class, and it was pretty marvelous, but I like morning yoga so.much.better. than evening yoga. Yoga both invigorates me and zens me out, and I like to have that blissed out feeling with me all day! Not only a couple hours before bed.

5. Also last night at yoga class? I totally om’ed myself out. At the beginning of class after meditating for about 10 minutes, the class chants the “om” three times in unison. Well, apparently I got a little carried away, because after the third “om,” I took a deep (pranayama) breath, and started a 4th one! Unfortunately I was only in unison with myself, and it went more like “oooooo…crap” Embarrassed smile I think that’s the first time I’ve ever been embarrassed in yoga class!

6. I really should have just titled this “Last Night, in Yoga Class…” (edited, I did!) because I’ve got another one for ya. I feel like I’m the only one in the universe who does this, but my yoga studio pretty much considers yoga and the universe with their religion (which is fine – awesome for them to have a higher power to believe in!) But…and this is going to sound WEIRD, you guys…I almost feel like I’m “cheating” on God when I’m sitting their listening to the instructor talking about sending healing vibrations, visualizations, and signals. So in my head, I always say a different word. You know, like God instead of universe or divinity, Amen instead of namaste, and so on. I don’t get really religious on this blog, so I hope I didn’t just lose half my readers…I told you I’m a weirdo! Confused smile

7. Does anyone else feel like TV is going through a total slump right now? The only show I’m currently digging is Dexter (which is freaking awesome this season) but it’s ending soon :( Even the housewives need to step up their game! I can’t wait for OC to come back.

The cat fighting we all know and love

8. Tina’s microwaveable english muffin.

Today’s breakfast

Actually, this is a recipe I got from a while back message board I frequent, but it’s basically the exact same thing – just measured in grams instead and without the pinch of salt. When I saw Tina’s post (and how delicious it looked,) it made me want to try it. This morning I made it, and then sandwiched a pork patty, eggs, and some kale from a local farm in between – and added that pinch of salt. In the words of Tina, holy yum. I think I even said “WOW…” when I finished it, because I felt so satisfied.

9. I was watching this video the other day and I think my back gave out and my knees blew out just by witnessing the atrocious form:

what. the. heck.

All right. Off to train my (last – tear!) Friday clients. Have a good one Open-mouthed smile

How do you feel about TV lately?

Have you ever embarrassed yourself in a yoga or group fitness class?

  13. Wow! That video is BAD..ouch! Good luck with everything Paige!

  14. I am not even close to coordinated so I’ve ahd a lot of embarrassing class moments. The worst was probably when a yoga instructor asked me if I was pregnant (I wasn’t! I was just in half moon pose and I have a gut, geez) and then proceeded to teach me as though I were with child for the rest of the class. Horrifying.
I’m actually digging TV right now. My faves are Dexter, Homeland, Nashville and I actually think Grey’s is really good this season. Oh and Parenthood any time I want to sob my eyes out. And New Girl, the Mindy Project and Happy Endings. Okay, I have a problem.
Also, I feel the same way in yoga sometimes. When I set my intention it’s often a prayer.

    • Aaand, now I’m checking out Parenthood, the Mindy Project, and Happy Endings. I just could not get into Homeland! I know I’m probably the only person who has said that, but it just didn’t pull me in. I gave it 4 or 5 episodes, too.

  15. OMG, that video. I have watched it so many times now and it never becomes less painful, haha.

I’m actually the opposite to you – I prefer doing yoga in the evening! If I do it in the morning, it just makes me want to go back to bed haha. I haven’t done ANY yoga this week :( :( I’ve been so busy, it’s terrible. I’m going to squeeze in at least 10 minutes of stretching before bed tonight to make up for it.

  16. I can’t recall a time where I’ve embarrassed myself, but I’m pretty positive it’s happened numerous amount! I LOOOVE Dexter this season too, I’ll be so sad when it’s ending. Yah, TV has been lame-o right now, I guess it’s because it’s the holiday time? Who knows. Don’t stress to hard with all the moving, it will all come together eventually.

  17. I DO THE EXACT SAME THING IN YOGA CLASS! Substitute words, that is, not start a 4th “om” 😉 it’s so ridiculous, but I always worry that I’m disrespecting my faith or something – so glad to hear I’m not the only one!

  19. OMGGGGGGGG what are those people doing in the video! they’re like humping the barbells! that is INSANE! and they’re tiny little girls! my fav is the girl on the background with her hands on her hips like go girl go throw the 100lbs over your head and dislocate your shoulders…

bahhhhh i had that when your brain shuts down because you have so much to do so you just do what you don’t have to do. also – i need to check out those groove pants in tall because tall pants are the story of my life!

  22. I do the same thing in yoga. I don’t care for the religious aspect of yoga, so I just focus on God during that part of it. Not weird at all!

  23. Well if you’re “weird” then I’m weird too. I felt the same way in the beginning, but I love yoga. I even contemplated on stopping, but then I realized it can be my own way for prayer and praise. Keep shining Paige.

    • :) Glad I’m not the only one.

      • Hi Lisa, Here is one more As I Live and Breathe LOL! You will be missed by QVC and all of it’s viewres, who tuned in to see your informative, honest (and fun) presentations on air. You are a Class Act Ms. Mason! May God continue to Bless You and Gino AND Good Luck with the book and all of your future endeavors. [BTW…my vote for the book signing is West Chester, PA…after all, you did spend alot of time in the area ]

  24. That’s an axle bar and a continental clean. It’s not pretty but it’s a strongman workout. The axle bar doesn’t move like an Olympic bar and a continental clean is done the exact way they are doing it. It’s a real thing, if you’re into strongman type stuff.

  25. Love the outfit 😉 Love me some comfy clothes…that’s for sure. (Sweat pants were my number 2 on my 12 days of Christmas! haha).
    How tall are you??!
And AH! I couldn’t believe that video! It’s so awful D:
