Happy Friday! ![]()
I’m pretty sure I said the exact same thing last week, but this week absolutely SPED by! It seems like last Sunday evening was just a couple days ago, and here we are already going into another weekend. No complaints here – I’m looking forward to a nice, relaxing weekend for sure.
Actually, I started the weekend a little early. After training my last client of the night, I went to Puran, one of my favorite Indian restaurants in town. I was excited because a) I never get to eat Indian food because Shane’s not a big fan, and b) I was in the company of my folks!
Some Singha to start:

and then mushroom sag, baigan bartha, jasmine rice, and naan:

I was nice and full and happy by the end.
Afterward, we stopped for ice cream – no picture, but it was Emack and Bolios Space Cake, which never disappoints.
This morning I’m feeling a little rough – and not because of the Singhas above – but because of some shoulder pain. In high school and college I had an overuse injury in my right shoulder (from serving and spiking) and whenever I change up my routine and get a little too excited working my upper body, it rears its ugly head rotator cuff. That, and I’m pretty much sore all over.
Needless to say, I’ve changed up my workout goals! Before this week, my workouts were a little all over the place – getting in cardio and a strength workout when I could – which is fine – but now I have a little more order.
As far as strength goes, I’m incorporating splits into my workout! Actually, a 4 day split. It goes like this:
Monday – Legs (my butt still hurts)
Tuesday – Chest/triceps (my chest still hurts – and shoulder)
Wednesday – Off
Thursday – Back/biceps (owwww my biceps!)
Friday – Legs
For cardio, I’m just easing up a bit – I run on Thursday and Sunday, and take a spin class on Saturday. Of course this is tentative and subject to my mood and body. And now, looking back, perhaps I prematurely titled this post, because I still don’t really have any fitness “goals” (I’m not a huge goal person) – just a different routine, I s’pose.
Either way, I’m looking forward to destroying my legs today!
I’ll let decide if that statement was sarcastic or not ![]()
In the mean time, let’s talk about some other people’s blog highlights of the week! By highlights I mean posts that made me really think or go back and read twice.
Blog-World Double Takes
Lindsay talks about the concept of feeding each other – and most certainly not just with food. It made me think twice about how much we all really need each other and the loved ones in our lives, and vice versa!
Madeline threw a 1st birthday party for the most adorable, Emmalyne, and it looked like a Pinterest explosion! I was so impressed that I had to go back and look again…and again, and again! And take some notes ![]()

My girl, Julie, talks about the past, and how it provides so much perspective, and how moving on, learning, and growing from it is awesome! I can definitely relate here, Julie!
And Lindsay W. posted about her peanut butter chocolate chili! Say whaaat? I’ve heard of putting cocoa powder in chili, and I always eat half a PB sandwich on the side, but I have GOT to try this.

Lisa talked about finding her balance, and how striving not be perfect and just letting go is a major part of that. I may or may not have control issues, so I could relate.
The ever creative cook, Lindsay (could I have anymore blog-friends named Lindsay?…actually, yes – haha!) posted her recipe for Mexican Quinoa Bites, whose title alone had me do a double take.

Ashley’s dear husband, Cody (aka her baby daddy) wrote a guest post for her this week, that made my heart just melt! Even better, it was on their anniversary ![]()
Melissa’s post on how we should be eating more really caught my attention, too! Take a peek to see how bigger portions can be better for us.

Love, love, love Indian food! Fortunately I got the boyfriend turned on to it as well, so I get to have it once in a while.
I’ve been focusing a lot more on strength the last several months and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it! I’ve officially been converted from my cardio queen ways.

I’m not a huge fan of Indian food. I just wasn’t really accustomed to eating it as a kid and never really got in to it. As for my workouts, they are all over the place. I do a mix of running, HIIT, aerobics and strength training in no particular order. I used to have it on a pretty strict rotation, but I’m kind of liking just having run with it these days!
I hope your shoulder feels better! In his younger, crazier days, Tony had his come out of the socket doing a barefoot skiing trick (push up on the water) and that has led to him having to be really careful with it these days.

I’ve been very cardio focused as I was working to increase my running distance. I want to keep focusing on that because I think it’s been great for strengthening my lungs and asthma, but I also want to make sure I don’t forget about strength training so I’m hoping to do a bit more of that now too.

I’ve not had a lot of Indian food actually. I did have an Indian friend at my previous company who would make stuff for me quite often and it was so good. But I guess it scares me a little b/c I’m clueless as to what’s in half of it!
I love Indian food. I don’t eat it very often, but it is very special when I get a chance. Thanks for the links. Some great stuff there. Those quinoa bites sound delicious, and they look vegan-izable (I just coined a word I think
).

I’ve only had Indian food once, and I really enjoyed it! I need to find a restaurant near us. Thanks for the shoutout my friend!

I LOVE Indian food. And thanks for the links to the other posts! My exercise focuses on cardio because it’s easier to fit in with a busy schedule (going for a walk or jog doesn’t require going to the gym to lift) but I do love weight training when I do get into the gym.
