WIAW & My Two New Good Habits
Here we are smack dab in the middle of the week again! I think I’m fighting off a sickness that I just started feeling yesterday morning. I’ve been saying it’s a miracle if I don’t catch this cold that’s going around. I’ve had clients canceling left and right because of it, and the ones who aren’t cancelling are sniffling and coughing through our workouts. Plus I work in a gym = germ fest.
I THANK YOU! Now just wipe down the rest of the gym. Oh wait, that’s my job.
For now I’ll just continue to take it easy and down emergen-C’s like it’s my job. Want to know how many I drank yesterday? Good, I’ll tell you, because it’s What I Ate (and drank) Wednesday!
This month’s theme is about falling into good habits, and you know what? I happen to be doing just that. I’m proudly announcing two things:
#1. We have NO ice cream in the house! Usually, we keep 2-3 flavors in the freezer, but last week we I decided that if we wanted ice cream, we could go get it from the ice cream shoppe. Turns out, we’re pretty lazy during the week and don’t feel like venturing out to go get ice cream after dinner. This translates to less sugar crashes before bedtime
#2. I gave up week night wine. It’s true (don’t worry, Lindsay, I’m still getting my wine on during the weekend ) For me, when I open a bottle, I feel like I can’t let it go bad, so that means usually having 1-2 glasses a night 3 nights in a row, since Shane’s on a beer kick and won’t help a wifey out. So now I open a bottle Friday and enjoy it through Sunday. I’ve replaced my weeknight wine drinking with sleepy time tea drinking. I think it’s a good new habit I’ve fallen into.
All right. Enough chit chat, let’s get started! These are my eats from Tuesday (yesterday) which was a pretty normal day for me. I worked in the gym, trained a few clients, but my only exercise was taking Niko for a 50 minute brisk (and chilly!) walk.
6:30 AM – Emergen-C
Like I mentioned above, I woke up yesterday with a dry throat that was a little more than just a maybe-I-slept-with-my-mouth-open kinda dry throat. Emergen-C is my go-to drink for fending off the sickies.
6:35 AM – Coffee w/ a splash of half and half – I needs my coffees. Lately it’s been pretty bad. For a while there, I got in the habit of not needing a cup assoonasIwokeup, but we’re back to square one. A delicious, creamy, heaven in a cup of a square one.
7:30 AM – Breakfast – Waffles + egg whites
2 Kashi blueberry waffles, toasted and each smeared with a thin layer of Justin’s vanilla almond butter, honeydew melon, and egg whites covered in sriracha on the side.
Delicious, and fueled my aforementioned 50 minute walk with the pupster.
9:30 AM – Coffee
Coffee w/ steamed almond milk and cinnamon. I was in the mood for something that’d warm me up!
#failed at flipping, obviously. For this pancake, I just mixed together 1/3 c. egg whites, 1/3 c. pumpkin, scoop of vanilla protein powder, cinnamon, and a dash of sea salt.
Then I topped it with ~1 tbsp. of Justin’s maple almond butter
1:30 PM – Lunch – Roasted egg plant, spinach, and shrimp pasta
Leftover from Monday night’s dinner, I put all components of the dinner is one container and chowed down. Roasted egg plant is the way to go, people. So dense and chewy!
Lunch was immediately followed by multiple handfuls to the face of Fall Trail Mix:
Sweet n salty – best combo evvvvver.
4:15 PM – Snack – Carrots and black bean dip
Some carrots that were on their last leg, plus miss Lindsay’s spicy black bean dip (recommend!) fueled me through one last hour of work, and my last clients for the day.
Aaaand more Emergen-C
7:00 PM – Dinner – Chicken tacos
That morning I boiled some chicken breasts, and then let them marinate in a combo of Mexican seasonings and salsa all day. When dinner time came, I stuffed the chicken in a couple flour tortillas, and topped with guacamole and Greek yogurt (a sub for sour cream.)
When I finished dinner, I was sure as heck that it would keep me full throughout the night, but low and behold, and 8:30, as we were watching Friday Night Lights, I had my hand back in the trail mix bowl – with a side of dark chocolate chips! Then I finished out the night with some sleepy time tea and reading a couple chapters of my book.
