Man, I suck at posting on the weekends.
I totally meant to write a post yesterday about the weekend, but before I knew it it was already 2:00 and then I was kinda like, “meh, what’s the point now?” It’s funny how once you get into a habit of doing something – or not doing something in this case – it just sticks. I don’t really blog on the weekends anymore, so it doesn’t come naturally to me. In that regard, not drinking wine during the week has become SUPER easy. So much that I don’t even really drink it on the weekends now either, anymore. I know – I don’t know who I am anymore either.![]()
Long story short, today’s move it Monday post will also include some notes from the weekend. Like the fact that I made a last minute decision to get bangs at my hair cut on Friday.
You see, I’ve been growing my hair out for about a year now, and I also haven’t gotten it colored for about that long (I’m going back to my natural color – more of a golden blond…you can see it at my roots/bangs) and was getting bored. Impulsive solution? Bangs. At least until I get so sick of pinning them back for workouts that I can’t stand it. We’ll see. For now, they’re growing on me, and Kristin at Station 710 gives an awesome haircut.
Before getting my forehead hairs chopped off, I made a stop at Vitamin Shoppe:
Emergen-C because I’m nearly out, and running out would be an emergency (hah) my favorite soap – in a new scent, my CALM drink, and tea. Because I’m a tea drinker now. Remember when I said I wish I were a tea drinker? Yeah, now I’m all about it since replacing wine with it at night. Go me. Other random Friday purchases included two freakingamazing pillows, skincare products that I’m planning to write a post about soon, and some Starbucks.
Friday night also involved a few of these:
With some girlfriends. French Martinis are my absolute favorite cocktail. Friends are fantastic, too.
Saturday involved a trip to Running Central, in Peoria. After chatting it up with one of my gym members last week and hearing her rave about Newton Running shoes, I had to see for myself. So I made the 45 minute trip to Running Central, which in and of itself made me want to run in some races again – that and talking with my hair stylist who is currently training for a marathon – to try them out.
Sold. I’ll talk more about them after I try them, but I’m super excited to run in them.
While there, I also found a solution for my bangs/workout problem!
Sweaty Bands! After hearing some of the girls at Running Central rave about them, I picked up a couple (I’m an easy sell) but was still a little dubious before trying one out on my run Sunday morning.
Verdict? It survived a 4.5 mile run with absolutely no slippage, which is more than I can say for, well, any other headband I’ve ever tried.
Success. I also tried out a new sports bra I bought there as well, the Moving Comfort brand by Brooks, which has now replaced lululemon’s tata tamer as my favorite running bra. I’m on a roll this weekend! Side note: Running Central is a dangerous store for the ol’ wallet.
Other noteable activities about the weekend included trying out a new Thai restaurant, visiting with my parents, and getting a pedicure with my friend Heidi. ‘Twas a great one! ![]()
This morning morning I only have a half hour in between clients to get a sweat session of my own in, and am planning on integrating today’s Move it Monday move into the workout (below.) The move?
Move it Monday
Sumo Burpee
The workout:
Sumo Burpee – 10 x’s
Step ups w/ 10 lb. dumbbells – 10 x’s each side
Push ups – 12 x’s
Leg Lowers – 12 x’s
Plank Butt Kickers – 25 x’s
Close-grip push ups – 12 x’s
Dumbbell Lunge – 12 x’s each side
Reptile Plank – 12 x’s each side
Clamshell Crunch – 12 x’s
Repeat 3 x’s through
I’m off to train a few morning clients. Will break after the second one to eat this breakfast-to-go:
Still not back on the oats train! So I’ve been sticking with cold cereal. Today it’s vanilla Oikos, a few dried cherries, and brown rice crispies. Have a great Monday ![]()
What’s one purchase you made this weekend?

I’m loving the bangs! I’ve debated that style for over a year but have been too scared about the whole bang-pin-back deal. Let us know about the Newtons, too. I’m curious about how they feel.

Love the workout and the on the go workout! I’m not a huge oats fan either so I love seeing some oat free options! I love yogurt and cereal combos!

I think the bangs were a great decision! I always think about doing it, but I’m lacking a bit of nerve.

Love the new hairstyle! I got side swept bangs about a year ago and while I like them, I decided to grow them out. They just weren’t working with my hair and are a pain to pin back.
I didn’t shop all weekend, but I did get an online order in the mail on Saturday–a new infinity scarf, fingerless gloves and a tank top. All in material made from bamboo and it’s super soft!

Love the bangs. Wish I could pull that off but my crazy kinky wavy hair wouldn’t cooperate. That Lululemon bra is my fav too. So there is one that is better? Must check it out!
