What I Ate Wednesday–Feeling Fruity

Last Wednesday instead of playing WIAW, I rambled on about my undying love for RPM and why it sucks to rain on fitness parades. This week, I don’t have anything in particular that I feel the need to rant on about, and I also had a pretty typical day of eats yesterday – including some new stuff I want to share with you guys – so I thought I’d play Smile

The only weird things about yesterday were that I ate an awfully large amount of fruit, and I worked out in the evening, so my evening meals were a bit bulkier than they usually are.

6:30 AMWake Up – Apple juice + coffee:


I woke up craving coffee (natural) and juice (not natural) so I drank each as I prepped the morning’s blog post and caught up on email.

Still not quite ready for breakfast, I snacked on a couple dates to fend off any hunger,  did a couple things around the house, and then took Niko for about a 30 minute walk around the lake.


We saw some random horses on the other side of the lake – a pretty brown and white spotted one. And Niko almost got attacked by a goose. Lake excitement.

Niko loves the lake. She gets SUPER excited when I ask her if she “wants to go to the lake?!?” and was my BFF after. Until I gave her a bath. Then she kinda hated me.


Hey, it was muddy at the lake! Anyway. Back to the WIAW game.

8:45 AM – Breakfast – Overnight oats and half a honeydew melon:


I actually prepped the oats before heading out for our walk by combining the following ingredients: a 1/4 cup each of oats, plain Greek yogurt, and milk + 1 tbsp. each of chia seeds, and 2 tbsp. each of protein powder and PB2, + a little stevia, and then topped it with granola.

Yum. OH! I also used a new-to-me protein powder. I normally get Sun Warrior Vanilla protein powder for oats and pancakes, but recently purchased Tone it Up’s Perfect Fit protein.


It tastes the exact same as SW, costs about the same price, but it’s organic. I see a new brown rice pp staple in my future Smile The only imperfect thing about it is the bag is definitely NOT re-sealable. I think I tried for about 10 minutes before giving up.

12:15 PM – Lunch – sweet n savory kale salad + more melon:


I usually eat lunch around 1:00, but my appetite kicked in early, and it was too late for a snack, so I just had lunch. A delicious lunch at that! Love this salad combo.

3:00 PM – Snack – PB+banana wrap:


On a Flat Out! wrap, I spread peanut butter on half, and sliced banana on the other half. It fueled me through 2 hours of client training + an evening spin class! I also sipped on some fitmixer aminos before and during RPM. Gave me a little boost Smile

6:20 PM – Post-spin snack – THE BAR!!!!!!


I finally solved my bar problem and found out where I could order the NuGo Pretzel bars – on All Star Health (I also buy protein powder there sometimes) and they were scheduled to be delivered yesterday. I seriously stalked the UPS tracking website all day yesterday, and as soon as the status switched to “delivered” I bolted home to go grab one. So exciting. Lovelovelove these bars. No I’m not affiliated. No the company doesn’t even know I exist. I just love these bars.

7:00 PM – Dinner – BBQ chicken, corn bread, salad:



A few exciting things about this meal. First, the obvious – corn bread – aka my most favorite bread known to man. Secondly, this barbeque sauce from Fresh Market:


Amazing. ‘Nuff said.

Lastly, did you know Hidden Valley makes organic ranch?! I know it doesn’t make it healthy, but it does make it organic! Ranch is Shane’s favorite, and let’s be honest – I don’t hate it, and I always bring back hippy dippy organic ranches from the grocery store, each of which he tells me isn’t so good – and to just get him some Hidden Valley. So while I was at Target, I reached for his requested Hidden Valley, to see that they also made an organic variety!

  3. I love all your meals! I’ve been dying to try perfect fit protein and am waiting to run out of my protein so I can order some! I have mixed feelings about choosing brown rice protein over whey after a workout but figure it would be great for all the in between times when I just want some protein! I am obsessed with those NuGo bars too! I just tried them recently and am in love! They are the perfect mix of salty sweet!

    • It’s really good! If you get the big bag, just make sure you have a container to transfer it to – it’s totally not resealable!

  4. Coffee, for sure. Don’t get in my way until I have some. 😉 My parent’s dog gets excited to go to the bank with my mom – the teller gives her a treat at the drive thru!

  6. I recently gave NuGo bars a try and LOVED them. I’ll definitely stock up on some of these the next time I’m out at the grocery. Very filling and satisfies my sweet tooth at the same time.

  14. Ok, two things.. I love flatout wraps and LOVE ranch dressing.. had no idea they make this. hidden valley is my fav. eats lookin’ awesome! :)

    First thing I want when I wake up is a protein shake. I drink that on my way to work before I dive into my real & huge breakfast of overnight oats!

  16. Oh my gosh – organic Hidden Valley ranch!? My boyfriend always eats his pizza with ranch. Try as I may to turn him off to it (so many calories, no nutritional value…but I guess pizza isn’t great either haha) to no avail. At least it’s good to know there’s an organic version! I’ll have to pick this up. Can’t win every battle.

  17. I have never cared for overnight oats! Maybe I need to try again. My belly is so weird in the mornings!! Sometimes I want breakfast right away, other times I sip tea for a bit until I get hungry.

    I can’t have anything but water in the morning, I just don’t feel like eating until 11 or 12. I drink about 2 cups of water and then I have some herbal tea or some hot cocoa. If I must have breakfast, I usually eat some fresh berries or bananas.
