You know when you plan out your workouts, and you’re excited about a certain one coming up? (Oh come on, I know a couple of you are
) Well, last night before I went to bed, I was SO excited about this morning’s run, and now…I’m relying on some motivation tactics. I wish I could tell you it’s mantras, or some fancy pin on pinterest, but I don’t find those too motivating unless I’m already motivated myself. Does that sense?
Anyway, this morning, what’s getting me through my run is knowing I have THIS to come home to:
Except it’ll be a cantaloupe this time around. Mmmmm mm. Good motivator for a tough run if I do say so myself!
Speaking of tough workouts, yesterday when I had a few minutes between clients, I did this little booty-kicker of a workout for some high intensity interval training. HIIT or Tabata? Why not both?! I combined them for about a 35 minute HIIT workout – all off of the treadmill without any equipment. I thought you guys might like it, so I figured I’d share it with ya’ll:
Please consult your doctor before beginning any new exercise program. If you haven’t done HIIT before, I recommend stopping after 10-15 minutes. It’s best to do HIIT workouts 1-2 times a week at most to reduce risk of injury.
- Increased anaerobic threshold and aerobic fitness
- Lowered fasting insulin and increased insulin sensitivity
- Decreased tummy and and top layer (subcutaneous) fat
*Drop Downs – I figured ya’ll knew what burpees, speed skaters, and squat jumps were. However, here’s a link to one of my youtube videos on how to do drop downs. Fun stuff ![]()
I only had about 40 minutes before my next client, so I just did this one alone, but It can be done alone, or after some strength work. It’s TOUGH though, so if you’re doing strength before, save some energy. Don’t say I didn’t warn you ![]()
Other HIIT Workouts:
- Keep it Simple Treadmill HIIT
- No Equipment Required At Home HIIT Workout
- Kickboxing HIIT Workout
- Meet Me in the Middle Treadmill HIIT Workout
- 1-2-3 Interval Run
The reason I was short on time is because I literally packed my morning schedule FULL. I was driving across town to a few clients’ homes before settling in at the gym to check in. I’m not used to my schedule being that tight, and it took a little toll on me, which I talk about in today’s vlog!
I’m participating in Vlog Every Day in August (VEDA) and filmed the first video yesterday. So, get used to seeing a bit more of me
I probably won’t load every single video I make on my blog (I don’t want you to get sick of me!) but I thought it’d be a fun challenge to get me to video blog a little bit more often.
Happy Thursday, everyone! Off to run and then do that little thing called work
Do you ever find your excitement suddenly changes one way or another for your workouts?
I usually have a pretty consistent level of excitement for them – just (a good!) part of my day. So today was fairly unusual for me!

i love that your workouts have active rest instead of just standing still and catching your breath!
Love HIIT – I’m gonna have to try that one out soon!

At night, before bed, especially now that the olympics are on every day, I’m excited about my early morning workouts.
However, it generally takes about 15 minutes after waking up for this excitement to kick in again.

I definitely get more excited about my workouts when they vary. If I’m doing the same thing for weeks then I tend to dread them and get super bored.
I love HIIT workouts, miss them right now, but they’ll be back in my agenda before I know it
