Sunday Snippets

It’s a rainy, dreary Sunday this morning…perfect for staying in the covers and finishing my book:

Guys. It’s been a looong time since I’ve read an I-just-cannot-put-this-book-down kinda book. When I’m not reading it, I’m thinking about it. And when I am reading it, I can’t put it down! I’m going to finish it today, and then I’m sure I’ll be pissed because I don’t have awesome reading material anymore. Best book I’ve read in a while.

However, that’s not all I’ve been up to this weekend. I did get a 5 mile run (on the treadmill – boo) in today. I’d actually planned on 4, but when I got to mile 4, I kept on going, sipping on my BCAA’s for energy and hydration. I’ve noticed most people like to drink theirs post-workout, but I actually find that drinking the BCAA’s (no matter the brand) works best when I drink them before and during my workout.

Post-run brunch:

iced Americano, egg white and provolone sandwich on an Ezekiel muffin, with half a banana (I ate the other half pre-run) and Justin’s maple almond butter. Yum.

A run and a nutritious, complete breakfast. Sounds pretty healthy right? Well, perhaps the rest of the weekend was a little bit more indulgent Winking smile Balance, balance, balance, and all that, right? Open-mouthed smile

There was sushi and beer:

And a rest day on Saturday, complete with a farmer’s market trip to get veggies, baked goodies (cinnamon rolls,) organic meats, fruit (apples and peaches):

feeling peachy.

OH! and I also finally picked up a jar of this over at Fresh Market:

It was pretty yummy. I just don’t think I’m that big of a hazelnut fan. I don’t even love nutella all that much (don’t spear me!)

There was also some baking going on Saturday during the day…I got a bajillion apples in this week’s CSA, so I made an easy (EASY) apple crisp:

read: I sliced a bunch of apples (with peel…peeling apples does not = easy) in my food processor, sprinkled on a little cinnamon & sugar, then topped with oats, flour, brown sugar, and butter. Then cooked for like 40 minutes @ 350. See? Easy.

Then I also made some PBJ energy bites:

Recipe coming soon…but it’s basically a peanut butter & jelly sandwich in a ball.

Then a little later, Shane and I headed out for the night. First stop: Desthil for some grub.

I had a mad craving for fries, and Desthil has THE best fries ever. Shane was ordering a burger and a cup of chowder, and said I could have his fries, so I could get a salad. Then the waiter walked by with this order in his hands:

And I changed my mind. Itjustlookedsogood! Ordered a veggie burger, and got my own damn fries. Done. And Shane also changed his mind and got a pizza:

And proceeded to eat all but two slices.

No beers were enjoyed with our meal, because of where we headed next:

Bruegala! AKA, my town’s beer fest. Basically you pay to get in (it’s for charity) pay for tickets, and then sample a bunch of beer.

Too much fun.

Then we proceeded to go home and eat kettlecorn while watching The League. Good times. Good, indulgent, times.

So there’s some snippets and stories from the weekend. I hope you all are enjoying your weekend as much and more! Happy Sunday, my friends Open-mouthed smile

Tell me about your weekend: something healthy and something indulgent!

  2. Sounds like you’ve had an incredible weekend! I’m feeling kind of blah today and well, felt the same yesterday. I finally finished my PT final and passed (wooohooo), however finishing up multiple projects last week has left me exhausted! So, not much indulgence is going on here this weekend, but lots of rest and relaxation. I hope you have a great rest of the weekend Paige!

  14. It’s all about balance! You said it. 😉 My weekends are often the same – some meals are top notch healthy and others are on the indulgent side. But to me it’s part of life and I’m happy with it. 😀 I REALLY want to try some BCAAs – do you find they really make a difference, Paige? I’d love to hear your thoughts on that.

FUN weekend…keep having a great week too!
