My New Initials

OK, maybe not too secret. Honestly I’ve just forgotten to tell ya’ll about my new adventure!

For the past couple weeks, I’ve been taking about an hour a day to do some reading, writing, and arithmetic note-taking. What am I studying for, you ask?

I’m studying to get my group fitness certification! I’m not certified in group fitness, but I figured I’ll likely want to teach a class sometime here in the future, and it will be helpful for my boot camp. Plus, who doesn’t like more initials to put after your name? Winking smile

I get to add GFI to my list!

A lot of it is review – stuff I already know from personal training – so far, but it looks like it will be a lot of fun to read once we get into the thick of it. The best part?

I ordered my own flash cards. I love using flash cards to study, but hate making the flash cards themselves. Problem solved Smile

Apart from an hour of study time, today’s been a pretty busy one so far. After finishing this morning’s blog post, I put together a playlist (coming atcha tomorrow!) and headed out for a 4+ ish mile run.

It was GORGEOUS during the entire run. That combined with a bumpin’ new playlist made the run super enjoyable. My legs are still a little sore from this workout, but the run seemed to loosen them up a tad.

After a quick shower (seriously, like 5 minutes) I changed and headed out the door to train an in-home client, breakfast in tote:

Chocolate cherry kiss smoothie: 1 c. coconut milk + vanilla pp + cocoa powder + chia seeds + instant coffee + almond meal + frozen cherries + ice. Yums.

Then I came home, walked Niko, and headed into the gym to put in a few hours.

Whenever I’m at the gym, I always eat my lunch at the desk. There’s some down time around lunch time, so it’s typically uninterrupted, but today, I was reading an article in Fitness magazine that interrupted it a bit:

Uhhh. Yeah, hearing desks are dirtier than toilet seats is not the best thing to read while you’re chowing down on some kidney bean + egg salad:

Regardless, it was delicious. I used my recipe for kidney bean salad, and then added in one HB egg + one HB egg white, over a bed of greens.

Apple and an uber larabar on the side – but not the bar in the picture. Instead, I had the cherry pie uber bar. I liked the roasted nut one way better, which surprised me because the cherry pie regular larabar is one of my favorites. I love dried cherries – and really cherries in any form – if you couldn’t tell Smile

Time to go live the rest of the day. Hope it’s a good one for you!

What was the last thing you studied for?

Where do you usually eat your lunch?

  1. The last thing I studied for was my RD exam and passed whooo!
I usually eat on my couch while watching The Chew. Dinner is always eaten at a table though. I just don’t picture lunch being that formal.

  2. I do not even remember the last thing I studied for….something in University 5 years ago?! Very exciting though, congrats!
I usually eat my lunch at home in the office while reading blogs, same as breakfast.

  3. I don’t have my Group Ex. Cert. either! And I need to get it (my gym doesn’t really care and lets me teach – but still – I care!)
    How much was the course?

  4. You are just going to love teaching group fitness!

  5. Good luck with studying!! I hate studying. Some people love it, but I am not one of those people. I studied for the GMAT earlier this year, and I’m so glad it’s over!

  6. The last thing i studied for were my law school finals two weeks ago!

  7. i would love to get my group fitness cert someday… do you mind me asking how much you paid for the materials?

  8. If it makes you feel any better, there are a LOT of things dirtier than a toilet seat. My dad sells cleaning supplies, so I’ve heard about a million different things be compared to the toilet seat. But if you really think about it, unless you pee all over it (which I don’t think counts), how dirty is your toilet seat really? I mean, it only touches your butt, and your butt isn’t out in the wild getting all covered in bacteria. I’d be more worried if something was dirtier than the toilet bowl than the seat.

  9. That’s so awesome that you are getting certified for group fitness!! The last time I truly studied was probably back in 2009 which was the last time I was taking classes on campus (after that was student teaching and my masters which involved lots of paper writing, but not much studying). But I really do love studying and I can’t wait to be back in school and do it again!

  10. congrats sweetie :) I am so excited for you!!!! GFI! How exciting :D

Your salad looks delicious! I have been all about salads lately :D

  11. That’s awesome about your new certification! :) I bet you’ll love it. I really want to study for my personal training certificate, I just have to sign up first hah. I usually eat lunch at my counter, or sometimes if I’m watching a show I’ll sit at the couch, but I try to avoid that at all costs!

  12. yea!!! it’s about time! i can’t believe you are not already. LOVE IT!

  13. Hmm…I love making flashcards but hate studying. Funny! Good luck in getting your certification!

  14. Good Luck with the Cert. I have mine through AFFA and I imagine they are similar tests, since you have your personal training cert. it should be super easy for you! I’m sure you will love teaching :)
…and I want your cherry smoothie, sounds amazing!

  15. Good luck with the studying lady! I am sure once you pass, which you will of course, you are going to loveee teaching!

    • I stayed at a hoetsl in San Francisco for two weeks and made delicious chicken marinara sandwiches pretty much every day. They’re very easy to make it you pick up some basics at the supermarket: wheat bread, a whole pre-cooked roasted chicken, Newman’s Own Spicy Red Pepper tomato sauce (this is key), mozarella, and then I add some crushed red pepper. Serve it with a salad or greens, and you’re good to go.

  16. Love that you’re getting this cert, Paige! One I should really think about doing too…it’s always inspiring to me when people keep learning. Get after it, friend! :D
