I’m afraid I have probably done a disservice to my fellow Irish friends.
- I didn’t make corned beef and cabbage, or Rueben’s, or even green cupcakes.
- I didn’t drink green beer.
- I didn’t actually wear green until about 7 pm when we went out for cocktails and dinner with friends (but I did have a green lime wedge in my gin and soda!)
- I didn’t even eat any of the foods re: #1.
I’ve never really been one to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day too much, though. I don’t really get it since I’m not Irish, but I feel like I’m the only one who feels this way!
Oh! I did drink a green chocolate protein shake for breakfast!
always drinking them in the car…
That counts, right? Also, anyone else out there call smoothies “shakes” if they’re made with chocolate protein powder? I don’t know why, but if it’s chocolate – or mocha, coffee – anything but fruity – it should be a shake in my mind. Who knows…
Well, Shane disc golfed. Niko and I watched.
I’m horrible at disc golf, and I’m also horribly competitive. So when I throw it in the tall icky grass like 5 times in a row, it doesn’t end well. This is also why Shane doesn’t like to play video games with me.
But I do like walking in the sunshine with Niko, so it’s fine
The rest of the day was spent pretty lazily until we went out with friends. We all got a few rounds of cocktails, and then split 5 or 6 different small plates. It ended up being a lot of fun, but Shane got a call to work (from home) so we had to peace out a little earlier than we would have liked. And then I had a healthy brownie with Greek yogurt when I got home, because small plates are, well, small.
As for today, the plan’s up in the air, but I’m up before Shane (because he was working until 3 am) which never happens! So I’m enjoying the quiet of the morning.
I do know that one item on the agenda is to book our June vacation today! It involves a cross country road trip to a gorgeous state out west that’s completely abnormal for us. Neither of us have been there. Any guesses?
Time for some Sunday coffee. Have a great rest of your weekend, friends
Do you consider yourself a competitive person?
What did you do to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?
