I(is not)rish

I’m afraid I have probably done a disservice to my fellow Irish friends.

  • I didn’t make corned beef and cabbage, or Rueben’s, or even green cupcakes.
  • I didn’t drink green beer.
  • I didn’t actually wear green until about 7 pm when we went out for cocktails and dinner with friends (but I did have a green lime wedge in my gin and soda!)
  • I didn’t even eat any of the foods re: #1.

I’ve never really been one to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day too much, though. I don’t really get it since I’m not Irish, but I feel like I’m the only one who feels this way! Who me?

Oh! I did drink a green chocolate protein shake for breakfast!

always drinking them in the car…

That counts, right? Smile Also, anyone else out there call smoothies “shakes” if they’re made with chocolate protein powder? I don’t know why, but if it’s chocolate – or mocha, coffee – anything but fruity – it should be a shake in my mind. Who knows…

It was such a beautiful day yesterday, though. After training a client, Shane and I packed up Niko and drove over to the nearest disc golf park for a little sunshine.IMG_2629

Well, Shane disc golfed. Niko and I watched.

I’m horrible at disc golf, and I’m also horribly competitive. So when I throw it in the tall icky grass like 5 times in a row, it doesn’t end well. This is also why Shane doesn’t like to play video games with me.

But I do like walking in the sunshine with Niko, so it’s fine Smile

The rest of the day was spent pretty lazily until we went out with friends. We all got a few rounds of cocktails, and then split 5 or 6 different small plates. It ended up being a lot of fun, but Shane got a call to work (from home) so we had to peace out a little earlier than we would have liked. And then I had a healthy brownie with Greek yogurt when I got home, because small plates are, well, small.

As for today, the plan’s up in the air, but I’m up before Shane (because he was working until 3 am) which never happens! So I’m enjoying the quiet of the morning.

I do know that one item on the agenda is to book our June vacation today! It involves a cross country road trip to a gorgeous state out west that’s completely abnormal for us. Neither of us have been there. Any guesses?

Time for some Sunday coffee. Have a great rest of your weekend, friends Open-mouthed smile

Do you consider yourself a competitive person?

What did you do to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?

  1. i know! you’re coming to utah! haha i have really no idea, but you should drive through utah so we can grab a coffee or something. i think that’s a grand idea. ;)
i’m not a big st. patrick’s day celebrator either. i’ve just never been that into it. so you’re not the only one!

  2. I made us healthified Shamrock Shakes for breakfast with chocolate protein powder, spinach, banana, mint extract and vanilla. I am not sure when I say shake versus smoothie because I just called the above a shake but its more a smoothie! haha.
I also worse green most of the day but that is all.

  3. I can be competitive at a few things. I’m very competitive at mini-golf even though I’m terrible. I am determined to win just once!!

Confession – I’m Irish and didn’t wear any green or really celebrate St. Patty’s Day at all. It was just another Saturday : )

  4. We went out last night but ate Mexican food and drank American beer. At least I wore green!

  5. Since I’m not Irish I’m not a huge St Patty’s Day fan. I did, however, eat meatballs with a delicious guinness beer sauce. I guess that kind of counts as Irish. Anyway, are you heading to California on your cross country road trip?

  6. Haha I did absolutely nothing for St Patricks day and I don’t feel bad about it – went for sushi of all things! haha

  7. I wore nothing green and ate nothing green! Haha I was actually traveling most of the day, but I saw a lot of St. Patrick’s day outfits in the airport! And I’m going to guess Colorado? Mostly because it’s awesome.

  8. If it is Colorado, Google: Garden of the Gods and Manitou Cliff Dwellings.

  9. I call it a smoothie up until it has some sort of ice cream in it – then it’s a shake! But that’s just me =)

  10. Are you going to vegas?? Haha I have no idea where you’re going, but I’m sure it’ll be a good time. I didn’t do/eat/have anything green yesterday. I’m such a slacker ;). Hope you have a great day!

  11. I really want to try those brownies! They look like a great alternative! How do you find them? I’m exactly the same as you…like I suck at bowling, but if I ever go randomly I HAVE to win or I will be in the worst mood everrr…I have no clue why I’m like this, even in like monopoly…it’s really horrible I feel awful for the people who are with me ;) haha

  12. Those brownies look really great! How are they? I’ve been thinking of making them soon…I am such a competitive person I’m sure it’s so annoying…even in like bowling, which I suck at, I have to win otherwise I am not a peach to be around ;) yikes!
