Every single winter, around January, Shane gets pretty bad nose bleeds. Nose bleeds seem to be one of those PITA’s that you don’t really know what causes them, but when they happen, you gotta act fast. Same thing with migraines (which he also gets fairly frequently.) I’m lucky that I get neither.
However, turns out he’s found the cure to nose bleeds.
Bacon? Yes, bacon.
I was just as surprised as you are that this wasn’t just his man response that bacon cures all…he had proof!
I received an email yesterday afternoon from the hubby with link to this article
saying that bacon has shown to stop nose bleeds.
I’ve expressed my rocky relationship with bacon before and why I don’t like to cook it all that often, but for dinner last night, I took one for the team.
BFD – bacon style.
In usual Paige style, my busy night dinner was breakfast for dinner, included eggs ‘n veggies (avocado, broccoli, spinach,) grapefruit, and – you guessed it – bacon.
Workout + Breakfast
This morning I woke up (without an alarm clock – hooray!) and headed to the gym for some steady state cardio. I’ve mentioned before I like to include at least one day a week of steady state cardio if for nothing else, then to increase my activity levels and get in some enjoyment – specifically in the form of endorphins and leisure reading:

Back home, I made some Noats for breakfast:
What are noats? Noats=No oats. I based it off of this recipe but made a few changes:
¼ c. almond flour (TJ’s) or almonds
¼ c. pecans
1 scoop protein powder (Sun Warrior Vanilla)
1 tbsp. cinnamon
½ c. frozen raspberries for topping
Milk to thin it out
Place nuts in food processor or blender and pulse until they turn into a flour-like consistency. Add the rest of the ingredients and pulse to combine. Scoop everything into a bowl, including the raspberries and microwave for 1 minute. Add a couple tbsp. of milk to thin it out and microwave again for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
This tasted SO good, and I’ll be making it again. And again and again. 😀
Also, just to clarify: I am NOT going “paleo” or “low carb.” For dessert last night I had nearly half a bag of this popcorn. Sinful. Delicious. Carby. If I go longer than 12 hours without a starchy carb I get stabby. No seriously, I can feel my mood levels dropping. I simply like to experiment for one, and two – I love nuts and fat-heavy meals every now and then.
Last day at the office for the week – woo hoo! Happy Thriday!! I’m also picking up a special visitor tonight at the train station. That’s right, Destiny is visiting this weekend. So excited…watch out for some debauchery
