Happy New Year!! Fear not, I have not fallen off the face of the earth ![]()
I have to admit, the better part of today has been spent in an entirely lazy state, but if watching 4 hours of House Hunters International and Million Dollar Rooms on HGTV is wrong, then I don’t want to be right.
I did eventually rise from the depths of the comfy, enveloping bed to make Shane and I a New Year’s Day breakfast!
2 eggs, broccoli, mushroom along with a side of organic bacon and a grapefruit that was super juicy and tasty ![]()
This was actually my first time eating bacon since I started eating meat again, and I have to say, I don’t really miss it. I didn’t like it too much then, so I’m not sure why I thought I’d like it now. I just don’t get the bacon hysteria!
As I was cleaning up the mess from breakfast, I had the sudden urge to clean the entire house. Instead, I stuck with this confined area:
I’m not sure what came over me, but I purged probably half of the contents of our freezer – including these freezer-burnt black bean brownies:
I made them probably 6 months ago and put them in the freezer directly after taking my first bite and thusly realizing that legumes do not belong in brownies – or any other baked good for that matter. My need to not waste food is apparently stronger than my need for tasty food ![]()
And now I’m back in bed
But on to what lead me to this little predicament in the first place…
New Year’s Eve 2011
Last night my brother, Destiny, her fiancé Steve all met up at our house for some champagne and pizza. Our plans involved heading to our favorite bar in town – and staying there because they offered a free ride home.
When we’re with this group, it’s always a good time. Last night was no different!
The night was filled with drinks, appetizers, New Year’s games, and loads of fun. I’ll just leave you with some pictures of the night.
Such good times! But I hurt a bit today ![]()
Happy New Year!!
OK now I’m going to finish watching House Bunny. It’s ok so far! Have a great day ![]()
How was your New Year’s Eve?
Why do we freeze things we know we’ll never end up using?!

hahaha- I freeze things I know I wont eat too! I get annoyed…especially when I wish I could use the container
. Sounds like a great day to me. Love the picture of you from last night with the “mustache”
LOVE it. Sounds like an awesome NYE if you ask me – even if you hurt a little
We always host a party at our house and this year was a little bit smaller but still TONS of fun, plus I got to meet a blog friend of mine who came up from RI for the party, it was SUCH fun! I love NYE
I don’t eat bacon and I am so happy I am not missing out!
Looks like a pretty fun New Years. I’ve spent my entire day so far being lazy too . . . sometimes it’s just necessary.
Also, I’m not a bacon fan either. Sometimes a little bit is ok, but if I never ate it again I wouldn’t even notice.
Nooo, poor black bean brownie, ha ha. But freezer burn is so icky.
I LOVE The House Bunny! Haha…Happy New Year! I look forward to reading about your adventures as I begin to venture into the blogging world myself.
I had a great New Year’s Eve!! I went to a party that my friend from college was throwing. There was drinks, music and laughter! So much fun!
awe, looks like you guys had a great time – you and D looked so pretty!! I almost had on the exact same outfit as you
Black bean brownies— no thanks
I live cleaning out the fridge and freezer and making way for more yummy goodies! Happy New Year!
I am definitely guilty of freezing everything. and not wrapping anything well so it gets freezer burn instantly. I am going to attempt to tackle my freezer tomorrow… shudder. And I am so jealous of a bar that offers rides home. What a great idea!
Looks like you had a great night! We spent the night with great friends and stayed awake until 4am. Today has been less that productive to say the least. Hopefully I will find energy for work tomorrow. Happy New Year!
