Beige vs. the Rainbow

Today has basically been the perfect Sunday!

Before training this morning’s client, I hopped on the treadmill to run 4 easy miles. After my run, I trained a client who’s actually an inspiration to me because of the progress she’s made. Plus, she’s a ball to train. I love this job 99.9% of the time Red heart

When I got home from the gym, I hurried up and showered, because a) Shane and I had plans to go to brunch at Swinger’s Grille and b) I was HUNGRY!

Once we were seated both had our coffees, we unleashed ourselves on the unsuspecting buffet, and straight up feasted:

Fresh fruit, a veggie omelet, veggies, and potatoes

As we were chowing down, Shane noticed that our plates looked quite different. Basically, his plate was beige (he went for the fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, sausage and bacon, etc – God love him) and mine was a bit more colorful.

I told him I was sure as heck going to take advantage of fresh chopped fruit and veggies that I didn’t have to buy or chop myself, and he said since I never have and probably never will make the same about his biscuits and gravy Winking smile

We intended on sharing a Belgian waffle after our first plates, but when we went back up, the line was insane. So instead we got a … trail… of desserts:

I had a small slice of cheese cake which I thoroughly enjoyed, and one bite of each of Shane’s 3 desserts.

We rolled ourselves out after this –

and headed home to watch some of The Challenge on tv. I’d normally say I’m not much of a brunch person. But honestly…today might have changed my mind. We just might have to make this a Sunday morning tradition!

After digesting, I left for my next quest of the day – pedicures with my BFF Heidi!

We splurged and went for the “special” pedicure, but I think I could have gone for the regular, really. Oh well. Toes are pretty now Open-mouthed smile We had a great time chatting it up, and afterward I accompanied her to Sam’s Club.

I didn’t need anything, but somehow left with 3 Items Bought:

Magical popcorn (there were only three bags left for the season!!) and some baked popcorn chips that sounded good. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t break into the chips on the way home.

Such a fun day! Open-mouthed smile

I think Shane and I are going to play some two-handed Euchre here soon, and maybe I’ll cook up some dinner. We just spent about an hour working on a project. Hint: I’m making a new youtube channel and I’ll unveil it to ya’ll on Tuesday Winking smile Exciting schtuff.

Are you a brunch type of person?

What do you typically fill your plate with at brunch?

  1. I love brunch…AND pedicures :) It sounds like a pretty amazing day to me!

  2. Love brunch! We make it every Sunday after the gym. I like carbs, so pancakes, waffles, french toast or oatmeal and lots of fruit. Oh and coffee!

  3. At buffets I love a little sample of everything on my plate. At a breakfast buffet though if there’s smoked salmon, I’m loading up!

  4. Mmmm those desserts look gooooooood! :)

I rarely go out for brunch, but every time I do go, I think to myself, “We should do this more often!”

Perhaps I should take my own advice haha!

  5. What a great day!! Brunch and a pedicure? Fab day!! I love brunch!! But southern brunch isnt a buffet usually. I like ordering omelets or parfaits

  6. I am definitely a brunch person! I love veggie omelets with broccoli, onions, green peppers, cheese and extra salsa on top! My husband just came home tonight from the grocery with a bag of those Popcorn Indiana chips! We tried the sea salt and they are so good. I like them better than Pop Chips, and that’s saying something! lol

  7. That popcorn is to die for.

My husband and I ate an entire bag in one serving.

I had no idea it was seasonal – if it is, I’m kinda glad.

  8. Honest to goodness, Hubby and I had the same conversation this morning. We were at a hotel (traveled for a wedding) and hit the hotel breakfast buffet. My plate: fresh fruit salad, cottage cheese, hard boiled eggs. His plate: cheesy omelette, sausage, potatoes (nary a vegetable or fruit in sight)! Then he told me he stashed an apple in his pocket for the flight home. So he wasn’t completely beige after all. ;)

  9. I have never been to Swinger’s for their brunch. It sounds like they have a good selection of things.
Also, which pedicure place do you go to? I am always trying to find a good place as I will never go back to Topline Nails.

  10. i loooove brunch!! i love a little of everything… i usually do a little veggie omelette or eggs benedict, if i’m really having a craving, with something sweet like part of a waffle or pancakes and always fresh fruit if they have it! i’m a huge fruit lover. sounds like a perfect sunday – glad you enjoyed it!

  11. I LOVE brunch! Especially if it involves a bloody mary!

  12. I love that you mention that your client inspires you :-) I can’t wait to be a dietitian and hope I can say the same someday!

  13. I never feel like I get my moneys worth at a buffet because I load up on the fruits and veggies. I do load up though! I love brunch though. We normally eat two meals on the weekend days with snacking in between.

  14. I think I had the best Sunday ever too!
I am in loveeee with the Dark choco kettle corn, and the white cheddar is really good too! I’m an omelet brunch kinda girl, love savory!
I hope you have a great week ahead of you!
    xoxo!

  15. Brunch is a bit of a weird one for me. I don’t mind it, but then what does it count as??? Breakfast, lunch, or more of a morning tea type thing? I typically like to get something savoury like 2 poached eggs with spinach and then maybe finish with a herbal tea and cookie! gotta throw something sweet in :)
