Tumaro’s NY Deli Style Wraps Giveaway

Last night after dinner, I cleaned up the mess from that meal, and immediately started making a mess for the next.

Hint: it involved lots and lots of tortillas. Any guesses?

Another hint: I’m turning them into appetizers for a party I’m hosting tomorrow night!

I’ve got to serve 10 women and 1 man, so I’ll be making quite a bit of food, and I’m quite excited for the outcome!

The tortilla wraps for my appetizer are actually a new line of wraps from Tumaro’s Tortillas that feature flavors inspired from NY Deli Style bakery breads! Cool, right?


Danielle from Tumaro’s emailed me a few weeks ago to ask if I’d like to try out and review the tortillas. Danielle said the tortillas come in the following flavors:

  • cracked pepper
  • rye
  • everything
  • pumpernickel
  • sourdough

When the box arrived, I was surprised to find that she sent me two of each flavor!

Nutritional stats:



A longer ingredient list than I usually prefer but not bad, right? Each flavor has 80-100 calories, around 8 grams of protein, and around 2-3 grams of fat.

Oh, and the reason it took me a good 3 weeks to write this review is because there were so many flavors to try! Somehow I managed Winking smile

I tried the rye wrap for leftover turkey from Thanksgiving:

The cracked pepper for egg burritos and egg pizza:


Doesn’t cracked pepper bread and eggs just sound like it should go well together?

For the Everything, I filled it with my kidney bean salad, subbing out ½ the mayo for cream cheese (but can’t find the picture!)

And for the other two, I just ate them plain so I could write the darn review already! Smile with tongue out

As for the taste?

I really like the taste of them. In fact, I’ll honestly say that I’ll be buying the rye and the cracked pepper ones when I see them in stores.


They’re my favorite flavors and I can see myself using them a lot. I’d say pumpernickel was my least favorite flavor, but that probably has something to do with the fact that I’m not a huge pumpernickel bread lover.

You know how some low fat wraps and tortillas have that weird, bland-ish taste? Well these don’t have that.

Shane loved them, too. In fact, when I made our breakfast burritos, I made him one with the rye wrap and one with the wraps we usually use, and told him to tell me which tasted better. He said he much preferred the one of the right (the rye flavor.)

I also had my mom try out the rye ones (she’s a HUGE rye bread fan) and they received her seal of approval. I’ll be on the lookout for these to hit stores for sure.

    Oh those wraps look tasty for sure! I usually just stick to whole wheat wraps for lunches and such, but it’d be nice to try some different flavors for a change! My favorite New York deli style bakery bread is probably marbled rye! It’s like rye and pumpernickel all rolled in to one! Plus, I just think it looks neat! 😉

    LOVE that the wraps are under 100 calories! My roommate asked me to help her use up some wraps the other day. Usually, the ones I stick to contain 100-130, but this one was 190!

    Obviously I ate it anyway. But still!

    I’m from South Texas, I grew up on flour tortillas! A tradition that has contributed to my weight gain for a long time. Its been a year since I’ve changed my diet and now 54 pounds lighter… I’m so happy to be bringing in the New Year with a NEW ME!! Of course, I still eat tortillas but I prefer store bought ones with less calories and made with whole wheat. I recently made my own whole wheat spinach tortillas for chicken fajitas. They were great! Love to taste the NY Deli Style Wraps! As for NY deli style breads, I haven’t tried any. I guess I’m better off that way for now. However, I do want to try making the Paleo bread you made the other day and will as soon as I get coconut flour. :) Thanks!

  10. I had heard about these wraps and loved the idea of rye (love reubens!) as well as the other flavors. I would have to say I have two favorite New York deli breads: rye and sourdough. It is great to have healthier alternatives to these flavors!!

    I am just going to hope that the wraps would also like to make their way over to Germany … :-) That would be awesome! I would show them Europe! They would have a happy holiday here and could write letters to their brother and sister wraps how amazing it is … they wouldn’t come back since I’d naturally devour them at the end 😉 … and yeah, I can’t comment on the NY Deli bakery bread since we don’t have any here – BUT that’s why I invented the story of the Europe journey!
