Betty White-isms

I heard a quote from Betty White the other day when she was asked about how she stays fit and in good shape at her age. Her reply?

“I have a bad memory and a two story house.”

The sad thing is, I can totally relate. I ran upstairs this morning as I was getting ready not one, not two, but three additional times to grab something. First, the dirty clothes on the bathroom floor, then my ring, and then to spray the shower down with shower disinfecting spray! I’ll call it my second workout of the day Winking smile

Weights n’ Run

My first workout, however, was done at the gym – and on purpose.

Lately I like to do full body workouts as opposed to splits when it comes to lifting. I typically designate 2-3 workout days as “strength days” and take about 45 minutes to hit all the major muscle groups in FB strength workout.

Since I randomly decided to do legs before spin yesterday, I did a quick upper body workout this morning before getting in some HIIT cardio on the treadmill, and did the following workout:

Following the strength circuit, I did this HIIT workout.

I drank my BCAA drink before and during my workout like I almost always do, which tends to keep any hunger away. But today I came home and was more than ready for breakfast.

Cottage cheese bowl – w/ 1 c. regular cottage cheese, ½ c. pumpkin, cinnamon, stevia, chia seeds, currants, and almond butter

Along with today’s featured Christmas candy on the side because you know, I was in the Christmas spirit.

Easy Chocolate PB Graham Cracker Cookies

1 c.  quality chocolate or white chocolate
5 graham cracker sheets, broken into ¼’s
~1/2 c. creamy peanut butter
Sprinkles/crushed candy canes for decoration

Melt chocolate in microwave by microwaving in 30 sec increments and stirring until melted. Spread ~1/2 tbsp. onto 1 graham cracker fourth, and submerge in the chocolate.

That’s it! Easiest Christmas cookie ever. I made them in both white and regular chocolate, and they taste amazing!

  4. Living up stairs is no joke! The place I was in before this one was up three flights with no elevator. Moving day almost killed me.

  5. One of my prerequisites for buying a house was no stairs. When we had our townhouse, it was the first “house” (ahem, condo) that we lived in. I was convinced I was a real person because our residence had stairs. It got old.

    Thanks for the booty workout. I’ve got a butt that’s genetically predisposed to be flat, and on top of that I’m a runner which means I really have no butt. However, I’d like to have a firm curve to it. I did your booty exercises last night and plan to continue to incorporate them into my workouts. I don’t do much muscle building in my legs other than running. So, I’m happy to have a sore tush today. I did 2 sets of 15 of each exercise. I’m planning to add a little weight each week.
    (I think my boyfriend is a little excited about my booty workouts.)

    • Hi Virginia! I love it. I haven’t noticed that it’s made me any “stronger” but I do certainly think it gives me a little extra “pep” ans well as makes me not so sore the next day, as long as I get in protein and carbs post-workout.
