Philly By Foot

Is it sad that’s it’s 8:00 pm and I’m already back in the hotel room, in my comfies, watching Jersey Shore with my HLS roomie? Traveling really takes it out of ya! A 4:45 a.m. wake up call doesn’t exactly help either.

Regardless, we definitely have been taking advantage of our early arrival in Philadelphia today with pre-HLS shenanigans today!

As soon as we got ready, we headed out to explore down town Philly on foot, with intentions of finding a cute café to dine al freso.

Mission accomplished:

We sat down for lunch at Devon for a late lunch, and quickly ordered a glass of wine to start.

Kim, and her signature pose Smile

The menu was huge, but when the waiter told us that Devon won best crab cakes in Philly for the past 5 years, I was sold.

I went with the jumbo lump crab cake sandwich, and it was amazing. I really want to go back and order the exact same thing again. It was that good.

And after a good 2-3 hours of relaxing and eating, we explored by foot some more. We may have gotten a little silly after our two glasses of wine with lunch Winking smile

Downtown Philadelphia has so much personality! It’s really unlike any other big city I’ve been to before. I really don’t know how to describe it besides saying it has limitless amounts of character and personality.

We roamed around down town until our feet hurt and then started heading back to the hotel. We probably walked close to 5-6 miles in total!

Going to save my energy for tomorrow and call it an early night! Hope you have a good Thursday!

What food is your city known for? Normal really isn’t known for anything, but Chicago is known for its deep dish pizza! Smile

  2. Ok, kind of jealous 😉 Love Philly and it’s such a walking city. I would have been in my room and PJs early too!

  3. I’m from Chicago, so yeah, deep dish pizza. But I don’t think where I live now is really known for anything.

  4. I’m from Franklin, NC..small town in the mountains. We’re known for gem mining. And moonshine 😉

  5. I definitely miss Chicago deep dish pizza! Orlando isn’t really known for anything (but theme parks), but the Florida Keys has Key Lime Pie, and we also have pretty good Cuban food.

  6. I can not wait to be in Philly tomorrow.

I have no idea what DC is known for. I guess it’s a good reflection of the melting pot that is American because we have a little bit of everything. Crab cakes are big in Maryland, but that’s not really DC. We have some great restaurants and well known places here, Ben’s Chili Bowl for example but I can’t say one particular food.

  7. I’m not from Detroit, but since I worked there for two years, and dated a dude from the suburbs (then married him ::awwww::) I’ll go with that city. Detroit is known for it’s famous Coneys from Nationals Coney Island. It’s also known for it’s Detroit Lions butter.

  8. I want to go to Philly so bad! great pics, looks like a blast :)

  9. so fun! and I LOVE that dress!

  10. They have a Devon in Chicago, too! You’ll have to hit it up next time you’re in town (ps, they have an awesome happy hour food menu at the bar). Have a great weekend at HLS!

  11. Atlanta’s known for fried stuff, I guess!

I’m originally from MD though which is known for crabs.
