Outta the Boy Shoes

Before the lazy dinner ensued, I stopped by the local running store and picked up a new pair of runners last night!

(I’ve never called them runners before, but that’s what the box called them and I liked itSmile)

It’s been nine months since I’ve bought new running shoes, but in my defense, the last time I bought new ones I bought two pair to rotate through.

Hooray for cute shoes! These are the Brooks Adrenalines GTS 11’s. Now let’s see if they don’t make it back to the store in the 14 days available for return…Winking smile

Any other ladies out there that usually have to wear mens shoes for running/working out?

How do you pick which shoes you wear to run/work out? Have you found “the one” yet? I most certainly haven’t found the one. I choose a different pair each time. I think the best ones so far have been Mizuno WaveRiders. I may go back to them if the Brooks don’t work.

On to food!

I’m kind of digging this oven boycott I’ve got going on. I never really realized how much I use it and rely on it for making dinners, and being forced by the heat wave to resort to other methods has really kicked up the creativity a notch.

Well, that, and it allows me to be completely lazy when it comes to making dinner. Oh rice cooker, how I love you for doing the dirty work.

This dinner was super easy, mainly because the rice cooker did every thing except heat up the organic veggie baked beans.

All I did was put some quinoa in the bottom of the rice cooker, some chopped and washed Brussels sprouts in the top basket, and let ‘er cook. When it had two minutes left, I heated up the beans in a bowl in the microwave.

Oven Shmoven Winking smile

It’s going to be a long one today. I was up at 5:00 to train a client, trained one after, and then I got in a 7.5 miler on the treadmill. In all reality, I could have run it outside, but when you spend the last few days at 95 degrees and wake up one morning to it being 55 degrees, it feels damn cold!

Now I’m just waiting for the husband to get home from his meeting and then we’re off to the wedding! Hopefully I can squeeze in a nap on the way there Winking smile

Have a good weekend everyone! Any fun plans this weekend?

  1. Wow, I never realized how versatile a rice cooker could be! That is so cool! Now I want one so I can avoid the oven as much as I can!! Have a great time at the wedding – try to nap if you can (sounds wonderful to me, ha!)

  2. I used to have to wear men’s shoes when I played soccer. I couldn’t find women’s cleats that fit right for the life of me!

  3. I’m pretty happy with the sauconys I wear. however, I’ll probably get my stride analyzed the next time I need a new pair- it doesn’t hurt to check yourself every once in a while. :)

  4. I haven’t ever had a pair of shoes I just LOVE. But I still haven’t made it to the running store yet…I’m very curious to have my stride and current tread pattern evaluated and see what they recommend. It’s on my to-do list for the summer!

I’m doing Relay for Life tonight (ALL night!) with the girls from work. Hopefully we don’t get the severe weather that has been predicted! Then I just discovered that the town where I work has a farmer’s market on Saturdays so I’m going to check that out before I head home!

  5. I LOVE my Adrenaline 11’s!!! I went through 3 pairs of the Adrenaline 10’s last year and just got the 11’s two months ago. I have narrow feet, so it can be difficult for me to find shoes that fit well. I hope they work for you. :)

  6. I have been running in the Brooks Adrenalines for about 5 years now. I currently have the 11’s and LOVE them!

  7. I need to get new running shoes soon!!! I just love the ones I’m using right now so much!

And those Brussels sprouts look great- I never understand people who don’t like them :) they are so crunchy and delicious!

  8. New shoes always make me soooo excited :) I haven’t found the “one” in terms of running shoes, but for cross training- I’m Ryka all the way! They totally rock. Fun din din. I feel like I haven’t had beans in a while…time to change that :) Today was a crazy weekend day- took class, taught pump, went to lunch with a friend, cleaning/yard work, pool and now I’m thinking about dinner

  9. I LOVE my Adrenalines!!! I’ve been running in them for years now and I couldn’t imagine running in anything else!

  10. I’m a Brooks convert!!! My last two shoes have been Brooks – the Ghost and now Glycerin (I’m a supinator, so I can’t wear shoes with arch support). I find they’re the perfect mix between cushy and stable. I’ve also become a big Nike fan, but I use them mostly for walking, they can be a little too stiff for running. Previously, I was all about the Saucony, but I find they wear down really quickly and need to be replaced before other kinds of shoes.

Mizuno used to be really great shoes, but they changed something so the soles are harder in them now. They’re made notoriously small because they’re a Japanese shoe, so I can see how they would fit you better if you’re buying mens.

Anyways, I’m a total running shoe nerd ;)
