I wake up today and it’s already mid 70’s and sunny and bright? Yesterday it was torrential downpours! What is it with Mother N? What is she trying to tell us?! WHAT?
Just a little drama to start your Memorial Day Monday
Yesterday morning after my 4.5 mile run, I had the sudden urge to do yoga. See the other day while I was searching for my lifting gloves, I happened upon a couple DVD’s I completely forgot about.
Yep, that’s my fitness DVD collection that was started about 6 years ago. Even Walk Away the Pounds…
Admission: for a good 5-6 months of my life in college, Walk Away the Pounds was my workout. Leslie Sansone is one perky chick, just sayin’.
But I digress. That’s not what I want to discuss today. What I pulled out from the archaic exercise DVD cabinet were these videos:
How many of you have heard about MTV’s Yoga and Pilates DVD’s? OK, the one of you who raised your hand – you know what’s up!! For the rest of you: I know, I know, it’s MTV. It’s a joke, right? I mean, it features the chick from Real World: bringing back New York. Joke? NO.
It’s no joke. It’s actually my favorite yoga DVD series. Seriously! I got this box set about 5 years ago, and it quickly became my favorite. I love the regular yoga DVD for just getting a good overall yoga session in, and the power yoga DVD for when I want it to really count as a good strength training and cardio workout, too.
Anyway, since I’d just finished running, I only wanted to do the regular yoga DVD. And since I looked and felt like this:
I filled up a large cup of half Gatorade, half water, and grabbed a towel before unraveling my mat. Only then did I continue to yoga my heart out for the next hour or so.
I really, really enjoy this DVD. Kristin McGee is the instructor, and Lori from the Real World is just an actor taking the class, to whom Kristin refers to as the beginner in the class.
I’ve never tried the yoga DVD’s Pilates counterparts, but can you believe I’ve never really ever had an interest in pilates ever?! Doesn’t everyone go through a pilates phase?
Did you go through a pilates phase? Did the phase turn into your fitness love? Not this girl. But that’s kinda happened with yoga! Six years ago I thought it’d be a phase, but I’ve just kept at it, doing it…kind of…regularly ever since
Feeling alive and refreshed (and drenched – it was humid during my run!) I quickly showered and then headed over to my parents house for a cookout and to see their new bathroom (they recently got it remodeled – it looks fab!)
The rain kind of foiled cookout plans, so instead we headed out shopping (which is always fun when you’re with your mom) and picked up a new brush head for my Clarasonic and a few pairs of super cute earrings!
Obviously I changed out the ones I had in right in the car
The rest of the night was pretty tame. Exciting options like seeing Hangover 2 and hitting up a baseball game were thrown out there, but in the end Shane and I ended up staying in and watching Love and Other Drugs. It was just OK. We fell asleep, which says something!
Off to train a few clients. Then it’s cook out time!!!
What are your plans on this Memorial Day?
