Before we get into today’s post, you should know that I’m currently bed blogging it. During a usual week, I depend on my alarm clock to wake me up 2-3 times. Otherwise, I wake up naturally around 6:30 or 7:00.
This week? I had to depend on it 5 times!! This week was crazy with clients in the 5 am hour and this morning is the first one since last Sunday when I didn’t have to be wakened by an annoying pattern of notes shooting out of my iPhone.
Nevertheless, I always say I’d rather train at 5:30 in the morning than 5:30 at night. I love my free time during the evening so much!
How many days do you wake up with an alarm? Do you wake right up or press the snooze? On days when I’m using an alarm, since I refuse to set one any earlier than 4:45, I have to wake right up, otherwise I’d be late. On days when I don’t use an alarm, I wake up, lay there with my eyes shut, stretch, and about 5 minutes later get my booty up out of bed.
A week from today, I, along with my friend Destiny will be throwing our best friend, Kim a shower and bachelorette party.
Kim, if you’re reading this, go away. Stop reading!
Really – it’s about the shower!!
OK. Now that Kim’s gone, I want to tell you guys about the shower menu! I love hosting gatherings, dinners, and parties, and am just as excited for this shower. I’ve never hosted a shower before, but I want it to be great!! I think I finally have the menu done – and would love your opinion/help 😀
A couple notes:
- Kim is gluten free, so we are attempting to make this 100% or as close to 100% gluten free as possible.
- The crowd won’t be HUGE. I think we’re expecting 12 ish people?
- She’s having two showers….and two bachelorette parties

veggies, GF pita, GF crackers and hummus

last night, I went out for Mexican food with some girlfriends and then we all went to see Something Borrowed.
I mentioned a while ago that I read the book a few years ago, and I loved it. Such a beach read, but a very quick, good, light read. The movie? Was good too!
I was totally not expecting it to be good. I was expecting to be the usual book-made-into-movie let down. You know, a Typical Kate Hudson movie. The only movie I ever liked with her in it was Almost Famous. OK, and How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days. But it wasn’t!! Now I can add this to the list:)
And although there was no popcorn consumption during the movie, I came home craving popcorn something fierce! Not in a mood to deny my craving, I had visions of Adriana’s Peanut Butter popcorn that Averie featured yesterday!
However, I didn’t want to eat something so high in sugar so shortly before bed. And since I was in no mood to bust out a pan, and wanted chocolate in my popcorn, I went with my usual Puppy Chow Popcorn.
Puppy Chow Popcorn
1 brown paper bag
1/4 c. popcorn kernels
1/4 c. dark chocolate chips
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp peanut butter
1 tbsp nutritional yeast (optional)
Place the kernels in the brown bag and microwave on high for 2 minutes. Set aside. In a medium bowl, heat up the chocolate chips for about 30 seconds. Stir. Add the rest of the ingredients except the nutritional yeast and microwave for another 30-45 seconds or until melted. Pour popcorn into bowl and toss to coat each piece. Sprinkle on the nutritional yeast.
Yum! Takes about 5 minutes to make, too.
And then I crashed.
Welp, gotta go! I booked all my weekend clients today so I’d have tomorrow completely free. If I’m going to get a quick weights workout in before hand, I better get scootin’!
