All Better

What a HUGE day. I couldn’t believe it when I was watching the Real Housewives of the OC last night, and I looked down to check Twitter on my phone.

My Twitter stream was going crazy – all about one thing: Osama Bin Laden’s death.

You know, the last time something this huge happened with the war, (9/11) I was in high school and found out from our principal, and then the TV. This time, I found out first through Twitter, on my iPhone. Crazy.

Where were you when you first heard about what happened on 9/11?

Where were you when you first heard of Osama Bin Laden’s death?

Guess Will and Kate can enjoy their peace and quiet now!

Moving on…

Yesterday I trained three clients, and each one of them was very surprised I didn’t cancel their sessions since I ran a race of 13.1 miles the day before.

Alas, I felt almost all better yesterday! Wait…

OK. After a pedicure I felt ALL better 😉

I rarely get such a subdued color on my tootsies, but I just wanted my feet to feel and look fresh, clean, and neat. OPI’s Bubble Bath always does that job.

What color do you usually go with for your toe nails? I love Bogotá Blackberry and Diva of Geneva usually

Now, the day of the race, I felt about 80 every time I tried to stand up after sitting down, but apparently that’s nothing a good sleep can’t cure.

Also helpful? A delicious home-cooked meal.

This dish was lentil/dal dish was SO easy!

Homemade Dal Red Curry

1/2 onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 can diced tomatoes

half can tomato paste

1/2 tsp curry

1/2 tsp sea salt

1/4 tsp pepper

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp cumin

1 tsp crushed red pepper

1 c. cooked lentils

Sautee the onion and garlic in a little oil until soft. Add the tomatoes and tomato paste, and then all the spices. Bring to a boil, and then simmer for 10 minutes. Add the lentils for the last five minutes to warm. Serve with roti or rice. Or both 😉

Served with the best roti ever, ‘twas quite a good meal 😀

I didn’t exercise at all yesterday, save a 15 minute walk with Niko, but this morning I’m planning on hitting up a spin class as soon as I press publish!

I can’t believe it’s Monday again! My days are still all messed up from last week. Hope your Monday’s a good one! I’ve got a house to clean and some blog work to do, and then later a couple clients :)

PS – I’ve updated my Recipes Tab. Check out the new ones I’ve added! I’m also working on updating my Seasonal Recipes tab for spring and summer – but it’s still a work in progress.

…aaaaand publish!

  1. Love this place, and the curry recipe! Ah!

I was in my first semester of college on 9/11/01. I found out in music theory class. The professor told us the best thing we can do is carry on, so we had class. It was really rough.

  2. I found out via twitter too! Crazy techy world we live in…

Regarding the training after the race…I think its SO helpful to keep moving after a race. All of that lactic acid needs to get out somehow!

  3. I found out about Bin Laden via Twitter also! They were saying it on Twitter before CNN was saying it. On 9/11 I was in middle school and found out from a fellow classmate. I was just telling someone that in the world of ten years ago (no Twitter, no Facebook), I wouldn’t likely have found out the news of his death until the next day!

  4. I like shades of pink for the toes. Looking for a new shade of pink at the moment! It needs to match a few things I plan to wear during the bachelorette party I’m going to in a couple weeks!

  5. On 9/11/01 I was sitting in my 10th grade World History class (pretty ironic, huh?) Another teacher came into our classroom and told our teacher to turn on the TV.. Our teacher said, “There is no way those towers will fall, they are to strong.” Seriously seconds later they fell. It was an insane day. All of my parents were traveling/flying that day..

Last night I was sitting in bed blogging and playing on Twitter when I started to see feed that Obama was going to hold a Presidential Address. Several minutes later I finally found out that Osama Bin Laden had been killed. I didn’t see the presidential address but I’m sure I can youtube it later today.

  6. I like bubble bath too, but on my finger nails. I took nail polish off my toes weeks ago and have been going without ever since. Sometimes it is just nice to have bare looking nails like you decided to do with your pedicure.

I found out about Bin Laden while putting on my workout clothes this morning. My husband yelled my name and then told me “I think Osama Bin Laden is dead” and I replied, “are you sure it’s not Gaddafi?” I looked on my nytimes app on my iPod and that confirmed it. At the gym, I watched part of the coverage while running but then got bored of it and turned on HGTV instead.

On 9/11, I was in college and heading to American Revolution history class and my classmate told me the Capitol and twin towers were blown up. Obviously, he had his info wrong, but we found out the right information by watching the news that morning. I was so sickened by everything.

  7. I was at a volleyball tourney when I heard about 9/11. They announced it over the loud speakers during the prayer.
I was watching TV on ABC, so I heard about Bin Laden through the special report – but then I immediately turned to Twitter and Facebook for additonal info.

  8. I’m going to get a mani/pedi this week and can’t wait! My feet need some serious TLC :)

I usually go for “I’m not really a waitress” in the winter and some bright color in the summer!

  9. Um, pretty sure that meal and a pedicure would make me feel all better, too. Lovely.

  10. I was only 12 when 9/11 happened, so I didn’t really understand the gravity of the situation until I watched the news for a while. I remember being in bed and my mom came running in the room and dragged me out of my room to watch the news with her!

I was watching a movie last night when my dad came downstairs and told us to turn on the news to hear about bin Laden’s death. So crazy!

  11. I walked into my first day at a new job on 9/11. Yep, it was awful. Needless to say about 9 months later I was laid off…for the first time. Wow, so much has happened since that day. Before that day, jobs were a dime a dozen. Our 1st house went up in value over 30% in one year. After that day I’ve been laid off two more times, moved, lost my dad, and we bought a house 1/3 of the value of our first. But before you start feeling sorry for me I think now I’m in the best place I’ve ever been. I’m thankful for more. I forgive more. I say “I love you” more.

On that note, I’m thankful I’ve meet you bff of my new friend Kim. And I love your blog!

  12. That Indian arrangement you actioned looks just to die for!

I usually go for a coral-type color for my toes, but that’s just because that color seems to stay on the best? Go figure.
