Accent Vlog/Olog + Deep Condition and Clean

Yesterday I only had one client – and she rescheduled to this morning, so I had the entire day free!! So after being reduced to a puddle of sweat in my spin class (I worked the hardest I’ve ever worked according to my HRM – and my towel ;) ) I shopped it up.

I hit up Bed Bath and Beyond for some storage units from the laundry room and then hit up Target for some undergarment replacements. Every now and then I like to get rid of all Shane and my undergarments and buy all new ones. I try to buy cheap at the Target or the Gap so I don’t get attached to any single garment by its prettiness, thusly keeping it too long. Well, that was a little personal…

Moving on!

Once home, I put a deep conditioning mask on my hair and spent the next three hours deep cleaning the laundry room and main floor.

I used this mask, by the way, and my hair feels freaking awesome.

A client uses is on her hair and loves it and gave a bottle for me to try out – I loved it to! I think she bought it on QVC.

The Accent Vlog!

Many different bloggers have posted a little activity called, the accent vlog on their blogs (I first saw it through That Wife’s blog and Healthy Tipping Point’s blog.) I thought it was such a fun idea that’s purpose is to say certain key words that people pronounce differently through accents as well as certain key phrases that different areas say differently.

I decided to join in the fun and give it a whirl!

Note 1: I just woke up…and am in the ultimate comfy clothes. Don’t judge :)

Accent vlog: Aunt, Route, Wash, Oil, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught

  • What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
  • What is the bug that when you touch it, it curls into a ball?
  • What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
  • What do you call gym shoes?
  • What do you say to address a group of people?
  • What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped
  • body and extremely long legs?
  • What do you call your grandparents?
  • What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry
  • groceries at the supermarket?
  • What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
  • What is the thing you change the TV channel with?

I’ve always thought I had the “tv accent” – AKA no accent at all. What do you think?

PS – Shane commented that vlog is totally the wrong for video blog. Since the word blog comes from web-blog, a video-blog should be olog. He’s a clever one!

OK off to the gym for a run! (YAY!) And then training a client. I may or may not test drive a couple cars today – I’m planning on buying a new one in the next couple months!

Oh – and Shane and I did indeed go on our little adventure last night, but I don’t have all the pictures of the final..erm…product to show you guys yet! So I’ll write about it tomorrow :D

Have a lovely day, friends!

  1. I did this last night too. I don’t think I call rain when it’s sunny anything either.

I think you have a bit of a midwestern accent.

  2. Hey, we have the same no-accent-at-all-vocab., except, I say pillow, and you say pellow:-)
Good luck with the car thing. I hope you take after your dad for dealing with car salesmen.

  3. Loved the accent video!! To me, you tooootally have a midwestern accent. As someone who also studied and worked in broadcast journalism, word pronunciation kind of fascinates me. When I worked at the radio station, my boss used to call me every time I mis-pronounced something on air. Down to how long I held my vowels for :P

  4. That is a fun idea! I am from Washington state and I pronounce things just as you do. I would say we both don’t have an accent.

  5. I love this!! I saw most of the words the same as you… must be a midwest thing :)

  6. I love hearing these! Too fun. ANd i am so glad you carmel, not caramel!

  7. I can’t judge the accent. You just sound pretty “normal American” to me!

    Loved Shane’s olog comment!

  8. Soooo much fun! I like the way you said crayon! Maybe I will do one as well, I am sure being Indian I have a major accent! LOL

  9. I am a little obsessed with the accent vlogs! When I read blogs, I think I hear the blogger’s “voice,” but hearing it for real is so different. I always think people that say words differently than me have an accent, when it’s really me that has the heavy accent. I am not in love with the RI accent and when I get deep into a conversation, it’s sooo bad!

  10. So weird to me that people commented that you have a “Midwestern accent”… I think I sound just like you, and I don’t think either of us have an accent at all!

  11. owww…I need to do a hair mask or deep conditioning treatment. My hair is feeling kind of fried! I love this vlog- it is so much fun. And I must agree- you got a little midwestern going on .

  12. Laura @ Backstage Pass says:

Love the Vlog! Or should I say olog? I recorded one of these as well but haven’t figured out how to upload it.
I think that you have a Midwestern accent, I’ve heard that most TV personalities do as well.

  13. Haha, you DO have a TV voice! Very normal sounding (compared to my hillbilly accent) ;) Niko is such a cutie!
