1,2,3; protein, carb and veg-gie

(Sung to the tune of Britney’s 123)

I feel oddly optimistic for the day today! Probably mostly because it’s Friday, but also because last night I had the entire night off last night (after working at the BIC all day.) I actually even left the office a couple hours early to boot!

I had to pick up Niko from the groomer’s where she’d been all morning and then take her to the doggie doctor to get a shot. It was a big day for the little trooper. She was rewarded with a trip to PetCo where she picked out a new toy:

And then she proceeded to snap at a huge St. Bernard. Not a smart move, Nik.

By the time we got home, I would usually just be leaving work! Typically, evenings are filled with clients, volleyball, or yoga class, so I relish the nights where I can read, cook, and relax :D

And last night, I accomplished all three.

Finished Catching Fire, and now moving on to Chelsea Handler’s My Horizontal Life. Oh yes, brain cell stimulation right here!

Relaxed:

And I cooked.

Since giving up meat over a year ago, one thing I miss every now and then is dinner simplicity. No more protein + a carb + a veg = dinner. This is great most of the time – it enables me to be more creative with my meals and has broadened my horizons into the little world of cooking.

However, when wanting a simplistic 1 + 1 + 1 dinner, I turn to tofu.

YUMMY!

So I really need your help. I have a question for you guys. Valentine’s Day is coming up, and Shane and I aren’t getting anything for each other for it (I’ve never been a huge fan of the holiday because I feel like there’s so much pressure on it for couples and then it’s kind of too much of a in-your-face-lovey day for singles.) However, I still want to grab Shane some cologne. He’s been out for literally months and I just miss that yummy cologne smell! So in essence it’d be a gift for me ;)

So – ladies, what’s your favorite cologne to smell on a guy?? And guys – what are you wearing??

And don’t worry, Shane’s been waaay too busy at work lately, so I’m not letting the cat out of the bag :)

——

I’m off to do a little more blog work and then hit up a spin class! I have a tickle in my throat…and I’m desperately hoping it doesn’t last. It seems like there’s been more sick people at work than healthy, so here’s hoping…

Tonight Shane and I have a little adventure planned. Not sure what we are getting ourselves into with this one, but you can be sure I’ll blog about it tomorrow :-P

Happy Friday, everyone! :D

  1. ha, we never really do anything for V-day! We usually just forget about it, especially when it’s during the week.

I LOVE Cool Water (?), I think? Totally used to be worn by every boy in my high school, but I still love it.

  2. How nice to have a night off!
I picked out Jason’s cologne last Christmas and he wears Dolce & Gabbana “The One”. It smells soooo good, like warm spices, vanilla and wood. Give it a sniff!
Hehe, that cat picture made me laugh :) Have fun with your adventure tonight!

  3. I admit that I like the ease of the protein carb veg combo on nights I make meals with meat too.

  4. Haha I love your Britney song ;) Umm I remember liking Aqua di Gio back in high school, but I don’t know if I’ve smelled it since….

  5. Tiffany T says:

LOVED the Britney reference! Cologne wise I have been loving the original John Varvatos one for a while now… Literally makes me swoon.

  6. Hooray for a well deserved night off (oh and I totally sang your blog title out loud haha). Niko looks adorable! Frank needs a few new toys. And dinner- yum- especially the squash. This is my favorite new scent of Josh’s (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P269114&om_mmc=esv103203-GG&om_kwpur=340485878&ppc_crid=5202826697&esvcid=S1296230882_ADOGOB_AGI1092080_CRE5202826697_TID340485878_RFDd3d3Lmdvb2dsZS5jb20%3d) Polo Big Pony #2

  7. I really think I need to give TJ’s Purple Moon another chance. Why didn’t I like it the first time I had it?!?!

  8. Ugh, hope you’re not sick. It’s so hard to stay healthy this time of year!

It’s been so long since I’ve had to buy cologne for a man, I’m not sure I can help. haha!

  9. Cologne 101 : anything by Mrs. Victoria Secret is FAB, Steve loves the “very sexy for him” (my fav) which has sexual undertones and subtlely simple; also he has just recently (since a xmas gift) started wearing “black suede leather” by avon— which is musky and rustic–rawarrr!
but you really cant go wrong with a mens version of your scent, “euphoria” is nice/rustic and so is dolce and gabbana “mens dolce and gabbana by dolce and gabanna” YUMMMMM-o

im sure as long as you love it, he will too, cant wait to see what u get him!

  10. Have fun on your adventure tonight!!

  11. We never do anything for Valentine’s Day either, usually because we are broke, but basically we both forget and just don’t really care about that particular holiday.

Spencer wears Kenneth Cole Reaction, it smells delicious :)

  12. I don’t know any specific colognes for guys except for Old Spice. It was the scent EVERYONE wore in middle / high school!

  13. My all time favorite cologne is DKNY Be Delicious. I used to work at a bank, and a customer came in once wearing it. I was so distracted by how good he smelled that I actually have him $1000 too much cash. He was nice enough to tell me, but it was still embarassing. I dont know if they still make the exact same one, but my brother started wearing it and ruined it for me forever. So upsetting.
The Jean Paul Gaultier in the blue bottle is pretty amazing too.

  14. I just adore JOOP by Homme. Unfortunately My ex used to wear it, so my husband wearing it is out of the question : ( I miss it. I also love DKNY Be Delicious. Niko is so adorable!
