Spare Me

Hey, all! How was your day?

Mine was pretty much your standard Tuesday. Seemed like a looooong work day though. In fact, I could have spared myself the entire afternoon portion of the workday!

The morning half passed by fairly quickly, though. Worked through some emails when I got in, while munching on some oatmeal:

Just ya standard oats w/ 1/2 cup of oatmeal, 1 c. water, 1 T flax, 1 T. hemp powder, 1 T. brown rice syrup, 1 ripe nanner, and then a 1/4 c. bluberries, and a blob of raw almond butter on top. Deliciousness as always!

I ran out the door today forgetting my gym bag, so over lunch, I ran home and got it, and fixed up something I haven’t had in SUCH a long time.

A wrap! But not just any wrap…a Flat Out! wrap :D

In the Flat Out fabulousness was a half a yellow bell pepper, cauliflower (the white stuff you see) spinach, and hummus.

With some fresh pineapple and Friendship brand cottage cheese as a sidecar. Nom. There may or may not have been consumption of a cookie that obviously wasn’t spared ;)

Played with the pets a little while, and then headed on back in to work where I worked away for nineteen more hours the afternoon.

By the time I left work it was SO bitterly cold outside. It was snowing just a tad, but each flake burned on my skin as I walked to my car. Good thing I was parked in the front row, heh :D

Drove straight on to the gym to do a little speed work. I have a 5k the first weekend of March, and I’d really like to get my time around 28:00. Today’s interval training clocked in at 29:27. Hmm…maybe 28:00 might be a little lofty. We’ll see. Did some chest, triceps, and shoulder work plus a little QT with the stair master, and I was on my way home.

I had a pretty decent pre-workout snack:

But my stomach was still roaring when I got home from the gym. My gym stank trumped the hunger, so I hopped in the shower, dressed and only then made some grub.

Used the rest of the kale to make some kale chips – for this batch I just placed the kale leafs (torn from the stems) on a pan with aluminum foil, drizzle with olive oil, toss, then sprinkle on sea salt and some nutritional yeast. Yum! And no, there were no kale chips spared from this batch.

Piled every veggie we had as a base layer in this huge Tupperware bowl for a salad (spinach, yellow and orange bell pepper, tomato, broc, zuke)

Then added some Quorn meatless chik’n nuggets and goat cheese for added deliciousness…

And had a cup of Trader Joe’s tomato soup my girl Destiny bought me!

And from there I simply basked in yumtopia :)

Until I heard the husband calling from downstairs, wanting a rematch from last night’s Wii bowling. Oh yeah. Bring it.

Or not. He didn’t spare me on game one, as he got more strikes than spares, and my curve was throwing off my game. Game two I served some whoop ass though :D I’m pretty sure I was in the 200’s and he, well, was not. Nope…not even sparing his dignity!  I sense yet another rematch come tomorrow night.

Currently nomming on some bliss and I write up this post.

Aaaand finished ‘er off. So sad this coconut bliss is gone. But I can’t wait to try more flavors! Too bad it’s $6 a pint at the local health food store. Aah well – totally worth it. Just like the boocha.

Wow, what a food-filled post! You can always tell when a day’s uneventful judging by how many food pictures are in one of my posts.

Tomorrow after work, I’m going to one of my friend’s gym with her. She’s going to be training for the half marathon with me, so we’ll probably work on some kind of running, and perhaps venture into a class! Love shaking up the workout routine :)

Time to go downstairs and dive back into my book because I’m boycotting the Biggest Loser. I really just can’t stand it anymore. Between product placements and the contestants just getting larger and larger, I really don’t want to contribute to its ratings. ong> So please, just spare me ;-)

Besides, I can’t put my book down! I even feel the urge to pull it out of my purse while at stoplights! LOL..don’t worry, I suppress that urge, bahaha.

Have a great night and an awesome hump day, bloggies!!

Are you watching the Biggest Loser this season? Or do you feel it’s just gotten a little too out of hand? Obviously I’m not a fan anymore. But adding to my reasoning, it seems like there are SO many commercials, and for two hours, no thanks.

I’m still watching it – but I find myself fast forwarding a lot of it. Thank goodness for DVR! :)

  2. I started boycotting it last season, after they kept focusing on the drama with the crazy eyes lady. That, coupled with the product placement and Jillian’s selling out really frustrated me.

  3. I dont watch the biggest loser anymore because I just dont think that there is anything natural about the way that they lose weight and I dont believe that the weight that they lose is maintainable, because they really dont learn how to maintain once they leave the ranch!! I hope that other people chose to stop watching aswell, so that weight loss can be done in a more healthy way!!

  4. Hey girly ;) Today was a longgg day for me too. After work/working out, I had to get on a plane to travel for work. I just got into my hotel around 9:30 pm blahhh! Great lunch wrap! Love the whole meal overall! I’ve never really watched Biggest loser. I turn it on occasionally but never get too sucked in

  5. Yay! You are doing the 5K! You will do great!

Cute post! Love the ‘spare’ theme.
Today blew big time – except until after work, when the Boyf and I looked at houses! And then ate a hangrily late dinner at Noodles & Co.! I spared not one bite of my noodles ;-)

Your salad looks great! I tried kale chips the other day, and while they tasted great, I felt I wreaked from within of kale rot the rest of the night! Is that just me, or is that the nature of the beast?

  8. I’ve watched the past several seasons of BL but for some reason I just can’t get into this season. Not sure if it’s the added drama or the annoying product placement bits. The entire theme of the show is bothersome to me too….it’s just not realistic for most people and I don’t believe they are promoting lifestyle changes, rather, they are mostly interested in losing weight in a short amount of time.

Now, I am a fan of some of the other reality shows you mention….but I refuse to admit that I’m a reality TV junkie (don’t tell anyone). :(

  9. Brrr, I agree; this cold weather is painful! I had to walk over a homeless person in the stairwell of the parking deck I use. I wish I had had one of my hot hand packs to give him.

I don’t watch BL, but we always record 24 because of all those commercials too.

I’ve neer watched the Biggest Loser and I don’t think I ever will. I just think it’s all about attention–not getting healthy. People are contesting for their 15 minutes of fame and money! Sheesh!

  11. If you are training for time in the 5k you should attempt to run quarters once a week. When I was a competitive cross country runner we did quarters and halves once a week and they kicked my booty but worked wonders. My 5k PR was 20:53!!!

  12. seriously I CRAVE kale chips, its quite strange, but I guess its better than craving lots of sugary sweets right? I think you will def hit your time for the 5k!! on race day there is so much adreniline and excitement I always find myself running faster on the actual day!

Long days are no fun, but at least you had some delicious eats to compensate! I never have gotten into the Biggest Loser, but I have tuned into a few finales because I find the amount of weight lost so fascinating. The lack of reality does bug me though, as does Jillian.

  14. I’m still watching The Biggest Loser but mainly bec it is tradition with my sister. I still enjoy the show for the most part but I am VERY frustrated with how big contestants are now. I much prefer to be able to see people become more fit and healthy, not still huge and with eating disorders from having to starve themselves to get any sort of noticeable progress. Okay, moving on!

    Have a good day!

  15. I’ve never watched the Biggest Loser but I know what you mean about the commercials. I hate when my shows have 2 hour specials – it means an hour of commercials!

  16. I heart Wii bowling :)

  17. I don’t watch the Biggest Loser anymore. I actaully had access to some behind the scenes information and after learning what goes on I DO NOT THINK it is healthy. That is all I at liberty to say but trust me…it is not as “wholesome” as it seems!

  18. it is always nice to have a good parking spot when it is bitter cold! that quorn/goat cheese mix looks super delicious. did i miss what book you were reading? i am looking for a good one for my trip!

  19. “Piled every veggie we had as a base layer in this huge Tupperware bowl for a salad (spinach, yellow and orange bell pepper, tomato, broc, zuke)”–

That looks like exactly how I like to make my salads! I call it Locker Cleanout. Remember those days in school? Well, now it’s my veggie drawer in the fridge :)

TBL. I have never once watched that show. Frankly what you said aobut not wanting to contribute to the ratings…from what i gather about it (without actually having watched it)…I am in total agreement!

    :)

  20. I haven’t seen this week’s BL yet, but I hear you on the product placement. I forget exactly what it was, but last week when hubby and I were watching we were making a joke about how that sounds like an ad, and then all the sudden out comes the sell!! So not as inspirational as it used to be.

  21. Augh, I definitely get those days that just seem to draaaagggg out forever. Glad you made it through. ;) LOVE that dinner… what an awesome mix of veggies!

    xxoo

  22. I have a slight obsession with those cliff mojo bars… but I make sure I only eat them on days when I’m prepping to work out (as my little treat). mmm….
