It’s 7:30 and I could seriously pass out. I’m that tired because I’ve been running nonstop all day today, including running for 7 miles. I’m not used to that on Fridays!
After I got off work at 10:30 this morning, I headed straight over to the courthouse to get my name changed on my passport. Luckily, Caitlin had tweeted about how she needs to do this, and I saw her tweet. I say luckily, because I probably wouldn’t have remembered to do this until a week before I go on our cruise this year. Heh. Taking his last name sure is fun, but there’s a crap ton of stuff ya gotta do to make it legal! It’s a #1 reason not to get divorced. Haha..I kid, I kid!
Anyway, after going to the courthouse, I came home to work on my anniversary gift to Shane. It’s a bit personal, or else I’d share it with you all! Speaking of the anniversary again, Shane is taking me on a surprise trip tomorrow! However, I won’t be able to tell you all where until tomorrow. Don’t worry, I’ll keep my laptop on me wherever we go like the good little blogger I am 0;-)
So after working on the present, I decided I needed to go on my run. Unfortunately, mother nature again wouldn’t let me use my Garmin because a. the bugs are still here, and won’t go away until it cools down, and b. it was raining. So I grudgingly took my booty to the gym. I had planned on running my long run today, since I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to tomorrow or Sunday. The plan was to run a 10K. But then 4 miles in, I felt great, and was entertained by watching Days of Our Lives (greatest thing about going to the gym mid-day) so I decided to kick it up to 7 miles.

Boy was I a tired girl. I haven’t run more than 6.2 miles in three or four weeks, so my body felt the effect. All I wanted to do was go home and nap, while watching Dr. Oz. However, that wasn’t in the day’s plan! My best friend, Jessica is getting married next July, and today we went dress shopping! She looked beautiful in her dress. It’s not fair how gorgeous she is!
I won’t post the pictures of her in her dress, because I wouldn’t want her FH somehow stumbling upon them, but trust me, she was stunning.
We also picked out a few bridesmaids dresses. The day looked a lot like this for a good portion of it:

We ended up finding two that we liked. She’s having an outdoor wedding at the Mackinaw Valley Vineyard in July, so we wanted to make sure the dresses were light and airy!
A few hours later, I made the drive back home, and Shane and I started our anniversary weekend! It started out with cooking a dinner together.
On the menu:
- asparagus
- zesty’s maple carrots
- cous cous
- grilled chicken
- stove top
Yep, stove top. For some reason Shane wanted stuffing, so I made what he wanted (just for him though!) I think it’s because he saw it on the cover of my Clean Eating magazine that just came in the mail.

And, I was out of pots, due to the carrots and cous cous cooking, so it ended up being microwaved stuffing! LOL Boy did he scarf it down though

While Shane manned the grilled goods:

Ta-da! It was such a good and filling meal! We were both ravenous, and ate every bite.
I have a feeling tonight will be an early night. We are both pooped, and we have to get up early tomorrow for the Walk For the Mind. I’m looking forward to this, and showing my support for my cousin
*phew* that was a long post.
Have you been a bridesmaid before? Does anyone have any funny/embarrassing/crazy stories about their dresses??

ooo surprise trip! funnn. cant wait to see. love that photo of you in the kitchen!
OO! The dinner looks yummy! I've never been on a surprise trip! I hope yall have an amazing time!
Dinner looks delicious. I love asparagus, a friend's mom of mine makes it with lemon butter sauce and it is just. Heavenly. It's delicious when cooked crisp-tender drizzled with some off this sauce and just a pinch of salt.
i have a funny story about my bridesmaid's dress for my co-blogger christy's wedding – my mom had bought me a dress on sale and proudly presented it to me five years ago. it was not only 3 sizes too big, it was yellow and looked like a bridesmaid's dress. for some reason it sat in my closet for years. then, when christy told me she was thinking she might pick yellow for her wedding, i got to finally wear it (altered of course). it was quite perfect…
AHH! What a pretty dress! I love that luscious cream color!
Hmm…I don't wear dresses, haha! Yes, I'm a 21 year old tomboy!
GORGEOUS dress!!
Hooray for Clean Eating Magazine!! One of my favorites
Here's a story about one of my mom's experiences as a bridesmaid, at a friend's wedding in the 90's: She had to wear a peachy-colored dress that was LITERALLY the same color as her skin, haha.
Your dinner looks great!! I've been a bridesmaid twice and next year I am actually the maid of honor at my brother's wedding. I was the only girl in my other brother's wedding but his wife had her friend Dan be the man of honor. lol
Awww congrats on your anniversary! Doesn't a year go by so fast??
I've been a bridesmaid 5 times so far. In June, I was in a wedding where we wore strapless dresses, so I bought some double-sided dress tape to help keep the top in place. I had trouble getting the tape to stick to my skin, because the dress was heavier and the cheap tape wasn't strong enough. Another one of the girls actually brought a much stronger tape that we all used and LOVED…it was toupee tape! Keep that in mind if you ever need strong double-sided tape!
What a gorgeous dress! I love the straps and bodice! And what a fun dinner. Sounds like the perfect menu.
Enjoy your walk tomorrow. What a perfect way to show your support for such an excellent cause!
xxoo

ugh, name change stuff is pretty high on the list of things i'm not looking forward to dealing with next year… my gmail has my last name! i'm going to have to get a new gmail!
my best bridesmaid story is that in my sis-in-law's wedding we had someone make the dresses… so you'd think they'd be made to fit you, right? mine was way too big in the chest… the woman making it told me "go buy a wonderbra honey". thanks, thanks.
Never a bridesmaid… never a bride! Ha!
That dress is so pretty.
Your anniversary supper sounds delicious – including the microwaved stuffing. Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Just noticed you're a journalism grad – me too!
I've been a bridesmaid twice and hated the dress both times, haha. But it wasn't my day so I didn't stress it. Dinner looks great. You two are super cute
